2. Europass at a glance
To succeed in the labour market, one has to be able to present his/her skills and
qualifications in a professional way. The Europass was created for this very purpose.
The Europass is a portfolio consisting of five different types of documents. It gives
all European citizens a clear and standardized means of presenting the capabilities
and skills they have acquired in school, at university or while studying or training
abroad.
Currently a total of 31 European countries are participating in the Europass Initiative.
3. Europass consists of five documents:
The Europass Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Europass Language Passport
Europass Mobility
Europass Diploma Supplement
Europass Certificate Supplement
6. Europass consists of five documents:
The Europass Curriculum Vitae (CV)
What is it?
A well-crafted curriculum vitae is the key to applying successfully for a vocational education or
training placement or an interesting job. The Europass Curriculum Vitae (Europass CV) is
standardized throughout Europe. It allows you to present your education/training, work experience,
language and other skills clearly and comprehensively.
What we do at the University of Cyprus:
We encourage our students or young graduates, wishing to take part in the ERASMUS placement
programme (an exchange programme to acquire professional experience) to prepare their CV’s in
the EUROPASS CV template. The document assists them in their effort to present themselves
professionally to potential host organizations.
8. Europass consists of five documents:
The Europass Language Passport
What is it?
The Europass Language Passport allows someone to describe his/her language skills, skills that are
vital for learning and working in Europe.
The Europass Language Passport was developed by the Council of Europe as part of the European
Language Portfolio which consists of three documents: the Language Passport, the Language
Biography and the Dossier
One can fill out the Europass Language Passport him/herself on the basis of a self-assessment grid
with a six level scale of the 'Common European Framework of Reference for Languages’ (A1, A2, B1,
B2, C1, C2). On it one can record his/her language skills in detail.
10. Europass consists of five documents:
The Europass Mobility
What is it?
The Europass Mobility is a record of any organized period of time (called Europass Mobility experience)
that a person spends in another European country for the purpose of learning or training.
This includes for example:
A work placement in a company;
An academic term as part of an exchange programme;
A voluntary placement in an NGO
The mobility experience is monitored by two partner organizations, the first in the country of origin and
the second in the host country. Both partners agree on the purpose, content and duration of the
experience; a mentor is identified in the host country. The partners may be universities, schools, training
centers, companies, NGOs, etc.
12. Europass consists of five documents:
The Europass Mobility
Who is it for?
Europass Mobility is intended for any person undergoing a mobility experience in a European country,
whatever their age or level of education.
Who is responsible for completing it?
The Europass Mobility is completed by the home and host organizations involved in the mobility project in
a language agreed between both organizations and the person concerned.
The National Europass Centre must be contacted for registration purposes.
What do we do at the University of Cyprus
We encourage our students taking part in Erasmus placements to prepare the contact the EUROPASS
National Centre of Cyprus to get their EUROPASS number and then ask their host organization to complete
the EUROPASS mobility document for them.
This can be used to evaluate any professional experience by future employers.
