2. 85 minutes total
Minute 0 to 5 Locker rooms dressing out
Minute: 5 to 10-15 Warm-up activities/ have students get flags on
Eraser football, split the class into 2 teams. One team starts in the endzone and huddle up to
determine who is carrying the eraser. That team spreads out and attempts to run to the other
endzone without being tagged (or flag pulled either way could work). If the person with the
eraser makes it to the endzone that team scores. If not the other team gets the eraser and tries to
score. Games can go however long needed. Thinking to 3 or 5.
Minute: 10-15 to 55-60
Set up/ demonstrate different stations and establish the different teams each team will go with
each other for all the stations/ drills.
1st station is practicing passing and catching 1 QB to 1 WR (passing 3 step or 5 step drop backs,
receiving use different routes: post, curl, slant, fade, and in/out.)
2nd station blocking (offense blocks for a few moments then defense sheds the block).
The 3rd station is practicing QB to RB hand offs
The 4th station is 3 on 3 simulations to work primarily on defense, but also offense with a
defense. Have 3 offensive players (1 QB 2 WR) and 3 defensive players (2 CB 1 Saftey) and
have them run plays to see if offense can complete a reception or defense can stop a reception.
After each attempt everyone rotates.
3. The 5th Station is working on the spin move. Have them in a line with enough space between to
allow someone in-between. Have one person perform a spin move through the whole line. After
the person spins past someone they rotate down the line towards the beginning.
The 6th Station is working on RB vision. Simulate a QB handing off to the RB the linemen (3)
block the defenders (2) and try to create a hole or running lane for the RB to go through. The RB
then tries to identify the hole or place to run with the ball.
After 5 minutes or when I have gone around to all stations to see if skills are being performed
adequately, rotate students to another station, repeat.
Minute 55 - 60 to 60-65
Go over some rules (offside’s, holding, pass interference, false start).
Minute 60-65 to minute 75
Have each team go off into their own area to work on plays, establish positions, and build team
chemistry. Make sure to have the teams remember who is on their team it will be their team for
the entire unit. Can have fun and they can create a school appropriate name like in fantasy
football.
Minute 75 to 85
Send students to locker room to prepare for next class
