2. ADVERTISEMENTS
• It is a public announcement, especially one advertising
goods or services in newspapers, on posters or in
broadcasts.
3. CLASSIFIED ADVERTISEMENTS
• Classified advertisements are usually brief advertisements, written in a characteristic style. They are
called classified because they are grouped into categories or classes according to their subject matter –
lost and found, situation vacant, property/ vehicles for sale etc.
• Most classified advertisements are brief because they are charged per word or per column line or
per column centimetre. So only words and phrases are written.
• The objective is to convey more by paying less.
• The word limit for the question is 50 words.

5. POINTS TO REMEMBER
• It should be put up in a box and come on one page.
• Personal pronouns like ‘I’ and We’ should never be used.
• Since it is a formal form of communication so the language used should be formal as well.
• Give a suitable heading. Heading should be written inside the box.
• Be precise and to the point. Don’t exceed the word limit of 50 words.
• All the necessary details are to be included keeping the word limit in mind.
• If you have something and want to sell, then start with the word ‘AVAILABLE’ and if you
want something then start with the word ‘REQUIRED’.
• In the end write your name, address and contact number.
