1. Overview
Our goal is to become a vertically integrated mine services company that provides mine owners and
exploration companies a complete set of services at any point in the life cycle of a mine. This “one-stop”
opportunity for customers contrasts sharply with today’s mine services industry, which is serviced by relatively
few companies that only offer a few services.
UMS was founded in 2006 and has grown revenues from zero to $12 million (2009 forecast), with healthy cash
flow and earnings. Growth has come by acquisition and internal growth. UMS has 11.6 million shares
outstanding and expects to be publicly traded by the fourth quarter of 2009. Management owns more than
70 percent of the company.
Mine Services Industry
Most mine service providers offer a specific service, such as contract labor, consulting, or supplies. UMS is
positioned to offer a host of services at any point in a mine life cycle, providing economies of scale to mine
owners and giving UMS a competitive advantage.
For example, the company owns a custom welding and fabrication shop, which provides services both
internally and to outside customers, giving UMS the opportunity to service, repair, and rebuild its own
equipment and provide parts on demand. UMS also has multiple crews of highly trained, Hazmat certified
employees who are skilled in environmental remediation, giving UMS the ability to provide site reclamation as
well as emergency response services.
