The UK offshore wind market,
estimated to be worth more than
£100bn over the next 20 years,
offers manufacturers a significant,
sustained growth opportunity.
+£100BN
RGF- supported programme initially funded until End of June 2015 to stimulate
English offshore wind manufacturing supply chain. A short term programme
extension will run until End of December 2015.
Support by way of Business Development and Business Improvement – Consultancy
Funding.
Provide up to 50% funding support, up to a maximum of £5K matched to help SMEs
engaged consultants & support organisations who can help them to progress or
deliver their OSW growth plans.
Can benefit existing or new entrants in the Offshore Wind sector.
Key programme KPI is Job Creation / Safeguarding.
Programme has engaged with 1000 companies and lead to creation of 2500
jobs.

This is not exclusive to Manufacturers it also covers service providers supporting offshore
wind i.e. condition monitoring, crew transfer vessels etc.
The scope of what can be funded is very broad for example, Writing tender
documents, help with PQQ's and Contract negotiation, Specialised Offshore Wind
H&S training etc… are all within scope.
Eligible Companies may choose the consultant / organisation which they prefer to deliver
the support project.
Growth by way of projected Jobs Created and Safeguarded must be apportioned to
OFFSHORE WIND.
Can be used to support the costs of using expertise within the offshore renewables
sectors such as ORE Catapult & TWI to assist with a broad scope of projects such as Bid
Writing, developing Technical specifications, Testing to market requirements, Product
enhancement, identifying potential opportunities and size of market, etc….

To date there have been several funded projects related to companies which either
manufacture or use coatings as part of their business operations, the scope of projects
includes:
Support with preparing for ISO accreditations which is a pre-requisite of some of their
target customers.
Cap ex for purchase of equipment including Laser Profiling Machine, CNC Machine Tools
and General Fabrication Equipment - Note Cap ex funding ceased in March 2015.
 Business growth strategy development aimed at looking to diversify into new sectors
including offshore wind.
 Operational improvement support focussing on developing optimum layout to support
product flow.
Preparing RGF application for capital funding (business plan, business and technical
justification).

We understand that many companies which may require support from GROW are Large
Enterprises. We could previously support LE’s with FEF(Capital) & PTI(Innovation)
Funding until End November 2014. Now we can offer the following:
– Work to develop and improve your existing suppliers.
– Help you to identify new suppliers (Locally).
– Communicate key information on awareness events which may be of interest.
Additionally we would like to work with partners in the North of England to establish
potential opportunities to re-shore products into the UK and work collaboratively with

Suppliers turn out in force for Dudgeon offshore wind farm event
organised by Statoil and GROW:OffshoreWind
GROW:OffshoreWind
Attended by close to 150 companies, the supplier day
organised by Statoil with GROW:OffshoreWind,
highlighted supply chain opportunities emerging from
the Dudgeon offshore wind farm.
 The event held at Great Yarmouth Town Hall, aimed to encourage
Tier 2 offshore wind supply chain companies to tender for the
products and services required by the Tier 1’s. The major
contractors were seeking suppliers for both the construction phase
and the ongoing Operations and Maintenance phase of the Dudgeon
Offshore Wind Farm.

A2SEA Hires UK Firm for Dudgeon Project
GROW:OffshoreWind
 In connection with the planning of the upcoming Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm for Statoil, A2SEA has selected Exeter
based Longitude Ltd to provide design support.
 This is the latest step in A2SEAs drive to engage with suppliers from the experienced UK offshore sector.
 “We are delighted to be able to work with Longitude and are looking forward to further expanding our supply chain in the
United Kingdom,” , Jens Nielsen, Director, Procurement in A2SEA.
Supported by GROW:Offshire wind supply chain specialists, A2SEA is attending supply
chain events across the UK over the coming months to highlight potential opportunities
for local companies to support their projects.

Granada Material Handling to Deliver Two Davit Cranes
for Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm.

 Sembmarine SLP has awarded a contract to Manchester-based
Granada Material Handling Ltd (GMH) to manufacture, deliver and
commission two davit crane units for Siemens’ Transmission and
Distribution Platform at the Dudgeon offshore wind farm.
 Each of the Granada ‘Python’ crane units have been specifically designed
for the Dudgeon offshore wind farm and the challenging marine
environment in which they will operate.
 The two crane units will be fitted to the cable deck area of the distribution
platform.
The company was awarded £20k funding from
GROW: Offshore Wind
 Britain’s independent ship repairer, Burgess Marine has entered into a long-term agreement with Mainprize Offshore
to initially build two 25m wind farm support vessels; MO2 and MO3.
 Mainprize Offshore has also taken out options on a further two vessels. The deal is to be financed by Close Brothers
 “For many years we’ve watched yards make small fortunes, then fail, or Operators make big investments which have then
been seized or withheld by administrators. We wanted to offer a ‘piece of mind alternative’ to the industry. Something
different. Something sensible. By working closely with Bob and Sharon Mainprize we’ve developed a ‘cost plus’ way of
working; thus ensuring a very low risk for the Operator and a low, but sustainable, margin for us, as the builder”. Nicholas

Mainprize Orders Two WFSVs from Burgess
GROW:OffshoreWind
£320k Grant from GROW to help purchase MO2, Multi an
Offshore Wind Support vessel, unique due to many
innovating features, including speed, sea keeping. Due to
launch at the Seawork International 2014 exhibition in Southampton this
month with the signing of MO2 taking place on the company’s exhibition
stand, no. A291, at midday on Tuesday 10 June.

  • 11. 11 Suppliers turn out in force for Dudgeon offshore wind farm event organised by Statoil and GROW:OffshoreWind GROW:OffshoreWind Attended by close to 150 companies, the supplier day organised by Statoil with GROW:OffshoreWind, highlighted supply chain opportunities emerging from the Dudgeon offshore wind farm.  The event held at Great Yarmouth Town Hall, aimed to encourage Tier 2 offshore wind supply chain companies to tender for the products and services required by the Tier 1’s.   • 12. 12 A2SEA Hires UK Firm for Dudgeon Project GROW:OffshoreWind  In connection with the planning of the upcoming Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm for Statoil, A2SEA has selected Exeter based Longitude Ltd to provide design support.  This is the latest step in A2SEAs drive to engage with suppliers from the experienced UK offshore sector.  “We are delighted to be able to work with Longitude and are looking forward to further expanding our supply chain in the United Kingdom,” , Jens Nielsen, Director, Procurement in A2SEA. Supported by GROW:Offshire wind supply chain specialists, A2SEA is attending supply chain events across the UK over the coming months to highlight potential opportunities for local companies to support their projects.
  • 13. 13 Granada Material Handling to Deliver Two Davit Cranes for Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm. GROW:OffshoreWind  Sembmarine SLP has awarded a contract to Manchester-based Granada Material Handling Ltd (GMH) to manufacture, deliver and commission two davit crane units for Siemens’ Transmission and Distribution Platform at the Dudgeon offshore wind farm.  Each of the Granada ‘Python’ crane units have been specifically designed for the Dudgeon offshore wind farm and the challenging marine environment in which they will operate.  The two crane units will be fitted to the cable deck area of the distribution platform. The company was awarded £20k funding from GROW: Offshore Wind
  • 14.  Britain’s independent ship repairer, Burgess Marine has entered into a long-term agreement with Mainprize Offshore to initially build two 25m wind farm support vessels; MO2 and MO3.  Mainprize Offshore has also taken out options on a further two vessels. The deal is to be financed by Close Brothers  “For many years we’ve watched yards make small fortunes, then fail, or Operators make big investments which have then been seized or withheld by administrators. We wanted to offer a ‘piece of mind alternative’ to the industry. Something different. Something sensible. By working closely with Bob and Sharon Mainprize we’ve developed a ‘cost plus’ way of working; thus ensuring a very low risk for the Operator and a low, but sustainable, margin for us, as the builder”.
