Teamwork in Action
To whom it may concern,
I wish to acknowledge the positive contribution that Krishneel Kumar as a team facilitator has
provided whilst participating within the Faculty of Health Sciences Teamwork in Action program.
The main aim of Teamwork in Action is to introduce first year Faculty of Health Sciences
students to teamwork and in particular, working with other health disciplines. Interprofessional
education will continue during their studies so that UQ health graduates are well equipped to
become effective members of a healthcare team.
While technical skills and knowledge will be the key for these future health professionals,
learning about emotions, learning to listen and to interact well at a personal level will enable
them to be more effective health care providers.
Multidisciplinary student teams work collaboratively with a chosen community organisation in
raising awareness to the diversity of health issues affecting communities. By participating and
engaging with their community organisational partner students not only develop technical skills
and knowledge but learn about emotion, learn to listen and to interact well at a personal level
which will enable them to be more effective health care providers.
The feedback from charities is that they were overwhelmed by the contribution of our students
and are keen to continue to be involved in the project next year.
Krishneel demonstrated strong leadership and professional communication skills, as well as
interpersonal skills interacting with his student teams and other relevant stakeholders such as a
representative from the team’s chosen community organisation and other community members.
This enabled a smooth running environment to operate in which students could undertake
important learning outcomes. I would not have any hesitation in recommending Krishneel for a
facilitator position or any leadership role for any future course related programs or in other
career positions.
Kind regards
Neville Smith
