Worm infestation are long term diseases that produce few symptoms
in their early stages and some time serious effect at well –
development stages or may be quite fatal at times
3. CAUSATIVE AGENT
Worm can be generally classified as
• ROUND WORMS:pin worm,hook worm
• FLAT WORM:tape worm
• FLUKES:liver fluke
7. ETIOLOGY
• Fecal contamination of water
• Unsanitary condition
• Eating raw or undercooked meats or fish
• Keeping animals in close unsanitary condition
• Rat or insect infestation
8. CONT:
• Malnourished or diseased person
• Heavy mosquito or fly infestation
• Play grounds where children can eat come in contact with the soil
• Contaminated food
• Unhygenic life style
10. SYMPTOMS OF A WORM INFESTATION
• Loss of appetite
• Stomach pain/discomfort
• Ithchy around the anus
• Irritation and sleeplessness(especially at night)
• Unexpected weight loss
11. CONT
• Worm visible in stool
• Blood in stool
• Anemia
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Rash
• UTI
• Diarrhoea
12. MANAGEMENT
• there are srveral medicines that may be used to treat worm infections-
they are sometimes called Anti-helmintics
• Mebendazole is the most commonly prescribe medicine for worms
13. HOW TO PREVENT WORM INFESTATION
Wear chappals/shoes while
walking or playing keep nails short and clean
14. wash hands with soap,especially before
eating and after using toilet
Drink safe and clean
water
