• Brands can make use of videos to rekindle
favourite/special memories or moments. They can also
help trigger nostalgia
• Statistics show that an Internet user spends over 80 per
cent of time on a website that has video than a site
minus video content. Marketers can use video to hold
attention and create brand impressions
• Including video in your digital marketing boosts chances
of your site getting a Google front page result, marketers
point out.

• Videos lead to more conversions than other types of
content, more than 70 per cent of survey participants say
so, according to Demand Metric, a marketing research
firm.
• Videos have greater chances of being shared, liked,
commented upon or retweeted, therefore enhancing
their likelihood of going viral.
• Videos can also be used in emails as they boost click-
through rates (CTR). According eMarketer, 50 per cent of
those using videos in emails saw more CTRs and
enhanced forwarding/sharing.

Examples of effective video marketing
• A digital ad that is creating a lot of buzz in India right
now is the digital ad called ‘The Calling’ released by
Anouk, a fashion label from e-tailer Myntra. The
video, starring talented actresses Radhika Apte and
Shernaz Patel, is all about workplace discrimination
against pregnant women, and has been trending on
social media. The ad was released on December 4,
and has acquired 1,477,342 views and counting.

• Another digital ad that has been done well is
Volkswagen India’s 70-second digital film for its
Beetle. The film has been launched on social media
platforms like Facebook, YouTube and the brand’s
website. It is called ‘Ode to the Bug’ and celebrates
the legacy of the VW car.
