2. • Provide crisis counseling, group counseling, and individual counseling to students to
promote academic and personal success. Case load encompasses general education students
as well as students receiving counseling as a related service on their IEP.
• Work with all members of the student services staff and with building and district
administration to coordinate department planning and initiatives K-12. Compile yearly
department budget for building administrator and annual report for superintendent.
• Promote staff awareness of the educational, social-emotional, and behavioral capabilities
and needs of students with disabilities.
• Chair Sub-Committee on Special Education re-evaluation reviews, annual reviews, and
transition reviews.
• Support faculty and promote student success through individual consultation as well as
participation on Child Study Team and 504 Committee.
• Organize and implement RTI benchmark screening assessments K-5, present assessment
data to grade level teams, recommend students for Tier 2 & 3 interventions.
• Coach PBIS Team at Maryvale High School to facilitate Tier 1 implementation over the
2014-15 school year.
Initiatives and projects:
• Designed and implemented district-wide transition protocol to facilitate career exploration
and self-advocacy skills for student with disabilities transitioning to post-secondary
education or a vocational situation. Coordinated transition services for students with
disabilities as part of a Model Transition Project grant.
• Spearheaded development and implementation proposals for a Family Resource Center in
the Maryvale School District. Sought out local resources, including Tower Foundation and
Oishei Foundation grants to fund implementation. Collaborated with the staff at the
Cleveland Hill Family Resource Center to provide Solution Focused Brief Therapy to
Maryvale families and community residents and to recruit families for various community
wellness programs.
• Developed a partnership with Mid-Erie Counseling to implement a district-wide Early
Recognition Screening program designed to promote social emotional wellness and
proactively link students and families impacted by behavioral or mental health needs with
services.
• Participated on the Cheektowaga Steering Committee to review, coordinate and disseminate
information on community services. Facilitated access for the Oishei Mobile Safety Net team
during completion of their community needs assessment.
• Participated on district-level Teacher-Leader Design Team to implement Professional
Learning Communities district-wide.
• Participated on district-level committee to design and implement a policy for the
implementation of a Response to Intervention problem-solving model district-wide.
• Compiled resource list of research-based intervention strategies to support the learning and
behavioral needs of struggling students.
• Provided in-service training for faculty on Response to Intervention and its impact on
school-wide service delivery and identification of students with disabilities.
