• -ing replaces a vowel at the end of a word
  unless the following letter is also a vowel
How can you form a negative using the
        present continuous?
Negatives (-)
• Formed by adding a “not” after the auxiliary
  verb

               • He is not smiling
              • She is not dancing
             • We are not studying

      • Contraction examples aren’t, isn’t
How do you form a question using the
       present continuous?
Questions formed by an inverse
• Reverse auxiliary verb and pronoun
• Example: Is he? As the inverse of He is
• Example Are we? As the inverse of We are
Meaning of Present Continuous

•   Does it mean that I was teaching in the past?
•   Does that mean I teach in the future?
Open Books to Unit 2A
   • Underline the verbs under each picture

• Change the verbs into the present continuous
                  form (-ing)

• Practice asking your partner “what are they
                     doing”
Look at 2B
• Small talk question: “What are you doing these
  days?”

• Common use in America: “What’s up?!”

• Look at weekly calendar we filled out last week.
  Take a minute to write down your answers.

Circulate, ask question, and tell a partner “what you
are doing these days.”

    what he is doing. Use the present continuous
     and the correct pronoun for your answer.
