Priyank: No, it’s mine. Tanmay's pen is on his desk
Julia: My mistake! Look, my grandmother gave
me a new pencil box.
Priyank: It looks very smart. I have a pen pouch, not a
box.
Julia: A pouch must be easier to carry. Is that the
teacher's book on your desk?
Priyank: Oh, yes! She must have forgotten to take it.
Julia: Let's take it to her room.
Read the conversation between Julia and

What is a Possessive Noun?

5. Uses of the Apostrophe (’) in
Possessive Nouns:
With singular nouns, we add apostrophes (‘s) to
show possession.
We do not add apostrophes (‘s) if the noun ends in
–s:
• Examples: Meenu's father is proud of her.
• James' foot was hurt.
