Dear Interviewer:
I am interested in working for your company as an intern this summer.
I have done extensive research on the intern opportunity and believe I would be a good fit
for this company. My focus on team work and strong communication has bestowed in me
good work ethic and the importance of customer service.
My experience in sales at Culvers of Port Orange has taught me how to coerce customers to
get them to buy the product we are trying to sell. After working at Culvers for almost a
year, I have learned the importance of teamwork in the workplace and how important it is
to have superb communication skills with anyone and everyone you encounter.
Thank you for your time and for considering me as a candidate for the studious internship
this summer. I look forward to talking with you again in the future.
Sincerely,
Kinsey Lanier

Part Five Summary
1. Employers look for candidate’s communication skills, their dedication, their
teamwork skills, their hard work, and their flexibility.
2. When an employer asks what your weaknesses are they don’t really want you to
give a real weakness. They want something that is a good weakness. For
example, my response would be that I never say “no” meaning that I always
agree to everything and sometimes forget to focus on things that matter to me.
This is a good weakness because it shows that you are hardworking.
3. You should say the employment style was different than you were expecting.
You should never talk bad about a previous employer.
4. Dress one step higher than the job you are applying for, make sure you look
professional, and don’t wear too much makeup or jewelry.
5. The goal of a cover letter is to display your skills and give a summary of why you
want the job in a concise document.
6. You should always write a thank you letter to show that you appreciate the
employer for giving you the opportunity, show them that you are serious about
getting the job, and sending a thank you letter will help you stand out from the
rest of the candidates.
7. Nonverbal cues can make you seem approachable or like you are standoff ish.
8. What are you looking for in a candidate? Can you tell me about the day to day
responsibilities of the job? What are your expectations for someone that works
here?
9. You should have multiple copies of your resume and cover letter and pick out an
outfit so you can be on time for your interview.
10. Showcase your skills, address the interviewer, and explain why you want the job
11. Communication because I can talk and understand my coworkers and teamwork
because I am able to work well with everyone.
12. If you don’t have any previous employment you should list your skills and your
volunteer work.
