Square to Panthapath)
 Date: 12, September, 2018
 Time: 09:00 am to 12:00 pm
 Duration: 3 hours
 Weather: Bright Sunny.
 Method: Photographic Survey Method (Manual- Walking)
 Equipment: Tape, Odometer, Camera.
 Number of Enumerators : Five (05)
Data Collection :
A minor or subsidiary road, especially one joining
or diverging from a main road. It distributes trips
between the main road and local area.
Side road:
1. Connecting residential areas with main road.
2. Making easy and movable access for the traffic of their
residents and visitors.
Effects Of Side Road On Roadway
Condition
Positive effects:
 Increased traffic at the intersection of side road and main road.
 Irregular and unplanned design, maintenance causing
congestion and accidents

 Maintenance of the existing things is a must.
 Number of pedestrian refuge has to be increased.
 Lighting facilities should be improved. Solar lights should be
introduced.
 Lights which are not in working order must bring it on working
order.
 Median width, parking facility, foot path and pedestrian facility
have to improve.
 Wrong way access must be controlled.
 Number of bus stops has to be increased and stopping buses at
any point must be banned.
 Side roads need a little bit of repairing.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Visual survey doesn’t provide exact measurements.
Odometer has to be used continuously which was not
possible.
 Not enough man power for performing the survey.
 Running vehicles create problems when
measurements are taken.

  • 25.  Maintenance of the existing things is a must.  Number of pedestrian refuge has to be increased.  Lighting facilities should be improved. Solar lights should be introduced.  Lights which are not in working order must bring it on working order.  Median width, parking facility, foot path and pedestrian facility have to improve.  Wrong way access must be controlled.  Number of bus stops has to be increased and stopping buses at any point must be banned.  Side roads need a little bit of repairing. RECOMMENDATIONS
  • 26. Visual survey doesn’t provide exact measurements. Odometer has to be used continuously which was not possible.  Not enough man power for performing the survey.  Running vehicles create problems when measurements are taken. LIMITATIONS
