LOADING: When the material of the work piece is filled the gap between the abrasive
grain then it is called as loading. It prevent the wheel from cutting freely.
REASONS:
 Use of hard grade wheel
 Soft workpiece material
 Slow cutting speed
 Fast cut
 Deep cut

GLAZING: A glazed wheel occurs when the abrasive grains are dull. The cutting surface of
the wheel appears shiny. It is a condition in which cutting edge take glass-
like appearance.
REASONS:
 Use too hard wheel
 Hard workpiece material
 High wheel speed
 Absence of cutting fluid

 TRUEING: Trueing is called the process of changing the shape of the wheel.
This is done to make tool true and concentric with its center. It can be done
on the new or on the used wheel.

 Use of too hard wheel
 Slow cutting speed

 DRESSING: Dressing of grinding wheel is done to remove the loading and to
breakaway the glazed surface of the wheel, to bring out the sharp abrasive
particles for grinding the work.
REASONS FOR DOING TRUEING & DRESSING:
 To regain the shape & efficiency of the wheel.
 To reduce the heat generated between work & wheel.
 To improve the surface quality of the work.
 To reduce the strain on machine & wheel.
