1) The marketing team at Just Right Tire Company lacks a common vision and direction, with members working independently instead of as a team.
2) Team B, acting as manager, plans to call a meeting to understand the communication barriers and resolve conflicts, emphasizing strengths and past successes to encourage collaboration.
3) The manager will present the project goals and timeline, and facilitate discussions of each idea to reach agreement, making the final decision if needed to keep the team on track.
1. Conflict Scenario
All businesses organizations need a good leader that provides a vision and
direction for the company and employees. In this conflict scenario, the Just Right Tire
Company marketing team does not have a common vision, goal, or direction. They have
managed to move away from the team concept and are all were working independently.
The purpose of this group project is to use management strategies and provide direction
for the marketing team to complete their project. The following will discuss Team B
(Manager) perspective on how to encourage the marketing team to openly communicate
and collaborate effectively to reach a common goal. Also a reflection of Team B’s
individual points will also be presented.
A meeting would be called to understand why the individual concepts were not
effective to the other team members. The manager would discuss barriers and resolve
communication and personality issues. The manager would consider the strengths and
weaknesses of each team member and present previous team projects where they were
successful to stress teamwork. Open communication and collaboration would be
emphasized and the objectives, goals, vision, and timeline of the project would be
presented. The manager would then encourage the team to present each of their ideas and
concept. Each idea would be discussed amongst the team members and agreed upon
collectively. If the conflict continued to exist, the manager would facilitate and assist the
team to stay on track with the objectives and goals and maintain a positive environment.
If the team members could not come to an agreement, the manager would make the final
decision.
Team B Points of View
2. Individuality is what defines a person’s uniqueness and identity. One of our
Team B Member emphasized individuality and diversity based on personal morals, ethics
and values. Respect and understanding of one’s personality, communication method and
learning style is important. Another concept presented, is to work off each team
members strengths to overcome their weaknesses. Try to understand the reasons for the
conflict and develop strategies to resolve them. A positive environment is important and
accountability and prioritization is essential to completing the task.
Another Team B member wanted to understand why the individual concepts were
not effective to the other team member. It was also important to review all previous team
works that demonstrated team effort, collaboration and successful product. Feedback
was also important on previous works to correlate to the new launch and repair
relationships.
Manager involvement was important in the facilitation of the meeting. All team
members agreed that open communication and collaboration was important to reach
consensus. All team members agreed that the objectives, goals, vision, and establishing a
timeline was a requirement. Finally, all agreed that is was important to have all three
members contribute that would result in an optimal final product.
