1. Area of Audience to be
considered:
Elements I have
considered:
Audience Research
What I have done
Taking my audiences opinion into consideration, my
group and I have created a primary research task, a
20 question questionnaire to help us create a film
fitting their wants.
Secondary research: My group and I did many
reviews on movies/documentaries involving the
genre we have chosen and the construction of the
narrative.
Audience Identification
Who my audience is
Our intended audience age for the film is aimed at
18yrs and above. This is due to the mature content
of the film. Our audience should be able to identify
complex narratives as well as showing ability to
understand and share feelings/emotions towards
characters and situations happening during the
short film.
Movies such as Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim, Bad Boys
and Rush Hour have similar narratives that I hope
my group and I can reach. These movies have an
influence in our short film because we are drawn to
the explicit comedy in terms of language and
scenes.
Audience Expectations
Expectations of audience
I’d like the audience to expect a take on portraying a
life of crime with comedy elements, with the addition
of a complex narrative. The audience should be able
to identify the relationships between characters and
the visualisation of comedy.
With the influence of other films I hope my group
and I bring a unique experience and entertaining
narrative to the audience. With the help of ideas
from other films we will be able to create good
expectations for our audience.
2. Audience Engagement
How I will engage the audience
Keeping my audience engaged my group and I plan
on having a non-linear structure for our short film.
This will be shown through flashbacks, memory
sequences and many more.
Despite the film becoming complicated, the
audience will be engaged due to the intricacies. It
will mess with the audience mind but if they are
present, they will eventually understand the story.
The fast paced editing is another key element that
will help capture my audience attention, with unique
transition and catchy soundtrack throughout the
short film.
