2. Choosing a Search Site This presentation will lead you through a lesson on how to choose a search site. After this lesson, you will be able to identify several student appropriate search sites, compare and contrast features of specific search sites, and explain why it is best to use two or more sites when searching for information.
3. Activity You have been given a sheet called “Choosing a Search Site” and you have been placed into groups. Every member of the group will investigate a different search engine. You will work together to compare and contrast different children’s web sites. Each search site has different features. You may like some more than others.
4. Sites: Pick One You will use the following sites to complete the worksheet and activity: Yahoo! KidsFact Monster KidsClick!Quintura for Kids Ask for KidsAwesome Library Remember that each member of your group will pick a different site. Work with your group now to choose your site. After you have decided which site you will use, complete the worksheet.
6. Group Discussion Answer the following questions with your group on chart paper: Why do you think it is good to use several different search engines when looking for information? What are the names of some children’s search sites? In what ways do these search sites differ?
