2. Hi everyone! My name is Jessica But, and I’m
your Vice President for the year. I’m a Junior
from East Lansing, MI. I’m double majoring in
Studio Art and Advertising with a minor in
Graphic Design.
Last year, I was the Special Events Chair and I
began the annual tradition of the Spring Gala. I
was also a peer mentor for the College of Arts
and Letters, providing resources and guiding
freshmen through their first semester at
Michigan State!
Some of my hobbies include photography —
which I’ve been doing for 8 years, cooking,
crocheting, doing community service, and

watching Netflix. I have two beautiful animal children: a 4-year old Chinchilla
named Tobi, and a 2 month old Syrian Hamster named Leighton. I’m also an avid
watcher of Studio Ghibli movies.
I’ve been involved with Circle K International since last year, and it’s been amazing
to be able to see the club grow in the past year! I’ve made so many new friends who
have become family, and met so many people who share my same passion for
community service! It’s been a great experience so far and I can’t wait to see what
else this club will bring!

Building our K-Fam
Between December and January, we
participated in three Kiwanis events!
On December 11th, we participated
in bell ringing for the Salvation Army
at Meridian Mall, which was a fun
way to get into the holiday spirit and
raise money for our community! On
December 14th, our vice president
and bulletin editor met Santa at the
East Lansing Kiwanis holiday party.
On January 18th, we attended the
East Lansing Kiwanis Club’s first
night meeting at Pizza House, and
were able to learn what the East
Lansing Key Club has been up to
and present about our progress and
goals for the year. We’re excited to
strengthen our partnership with our
local Kiwanians, and hope to attend
future night meetings with East
Lansing!
4. Welcome New Inductees
On December 1st, 2015, we inducted twelve new members into our chapter of
CKI! UMich and CMU paid our club a visit to help us celebrate our new
members and say goodbye to our four-year member and November member of
the month, Rohan Goel. District Governor Steven McCarty reclaimed the
district mascot, and left with an awesome MSU CKI t-shirt. Congratulations to
our new members, and congratulations to our recent graduate, Rohan!

Meet Our Member of the Month
Our member of the month for December/January is Brittany Knight! Brittany was
just inducted into Circle K and serves as our K-Fam Chair and a Gala Committee
Member. Congratulations, Brittany!
“I'm a Junior majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Sociology. When I
receive my degree I plan to go into the Juvenile Justice field. Some of the things I
enjoy doing in my free time are playing sports, listening to music, taking
spontaneous road trips and spending time with family and friends. I decided to join
Circle K because I thought it would be a great opportunity to do something nice
for our community and it was also a way to have fun and get connected with people
on campus.”

2015 Progress and 2016 Goals
In 2015, we inducted 12 new members into our chapter of Circle K, and had fun
getting to know one another to strengthen our ties of fellowship. Our
club completed 98.5 hours of service for the year and participated in 29
K-Fam events, demonstrating leadership by completing the most of
any district Circle K club.
In 2016, we hope to welcome another 5 members to our chapter of Circle K,
furthering the bond of Kiwanis fellowship within our community. We
hope to complete over 100 hours of service in 2016, and to continue our
active presence in the K-Fam community. We hope to get more of our general
members engaged in leadership opportunities, and look forward to
seeing what this year will bring for MSU Circle K!
