This movie is about a man who is a trained trauma surgeon goes on the kill
for revenge after his wife is killed and his daughter has been badly injured
when both her and her mother were attacked in their own home.
2. This is a birds eye view of America to notify the audience that
this film is set in America and not just anywhere in America
but Seattle, it also allows the audience to know that the film is
set in a modern time period such as 2017 or 1016.
3. This is a split screen shot of a man overlooking a birds eye view of a
New York sub station which lets the audience know that he is
narrating over what is shown in the clip next to him.
4. This is a birds eye view of a police car chase so the audience knows that a
crime has been committed and the police are chasing the suspect or
going to the scene which also suggests that this movie is set in a place
where crime is quite common.
5. This is a two shot of two men watching a video of a radio host watching
the viral clip which stated in the narration of this video, this shows the
audience that the video is viral and that the radio host is very popular, it
almost creates a video inception.
6. These are a varied frenzy of shots showing
the viral video from three different
perspectives, the first is from the hooded
protagonist or someone behind the
protagonist it is also seen as a establishing
shot to show the audience where the video
is set the other man in the shot looks quite
scared of the man he’s looking at in the
face which suggests the hooded character
is someone to be afraid of, the second shot
is of someone watching the video on the
their laptop showing the audience this
movie is set in a modern era with laptops,
the third shot shows the viral video from
the victims perspective who is wearing
criminal attire to show the audience that
the person in the car deserved it as they’re
wearing dark clothes. Through out the
frenzy of clips, the same hooded figure is
seen to show the audience that the main
character is the hooded figure and that
they can tell who he is when seeing them
with other characters.
7. The shot to the left is the reaction of
the witness recording the crime she
has seen we know this because in the
reflection of the glass window she is
standing behind we can see the same
hooded figure from the last previous
shots sitting in the middle of the road,
she also has a shocked and scared
expression on her face nut does not
stop filming which shows the audience
that this hooded figure is someone to
be scared of.
In the canted shot below we see someone
watching the viral video on a laptop once
again however this time in the reflection of
the laptop screen we see a bald older man
which is later described by the witness as
the hooded figure, who does not look very
happy that his action were caught on
camera however because the shot is canted
it gives the idea to the audience that the
person watching the video does not keep on
the straight and narrow path of the law and
that he sees the actions differently to
everyone else.
8. This shows the main protagonists hand loading a gun which shows
the audience he knows what he is doing and that he has experience
of loading guns, it also tells the audience he has a gun license
meaning that he is over 18.
9. This is a shot of the logo for a iconic production company that is well
known by most audiences which will attract more people to watch this
movie as people see a production company they trust are so more likely
to go see the film as it is expected to be good because of the production
company behind it.
10. This picture to the left shows the
audience that the main character is
very happy with his family and that
he has two different sides, one side
is when he is a criminal and the
other is when he is happy with his
family meaning he is a family man.
The shot in which this angle is taken
in is a mid shot of them walking in a
park and park is often a family
friendly
The picture above is showing the
audience that the main protagonist is
a dad and is very close with his
daughter this is shown through an
over the shoulder mid shot. His
weakness is clearly his daughter as it
appears to be his only child.
11. In this mid shot of the mother and the wife
of the main protagonist from the previous
shots, she is shown in a warm setting which
seems to be a kitchen which shows the
audience she is a stereotypical housewife.
This is a picture of the split screen
establishing shot to show that the mother
is about to be attacked and it also shows
the attacker so that the audience knows
what is coming but the character does
not.
This is a mid shot of the mother clearly
looking distressed which alerts the
audience that this character is very scared
and that she has spotted the intruder.
12. This is a establishing mid shot in an
area with lots of trees where all of
the characters are wearing mostly
black which shows that the main
protagonist is visiting a funeral
without his family which could
suggest it is one of his family
members that has died due to his
sad facial expression, it then cuts to
a shot of the coffin which has a
picture of his wife on it.
This is a long shot of the daughter
laying injured in a hospital bed
whilst her dad visits her this shows
the audience that the funeral was
for the mother and not the
daughter because the mother
would be there visiting, this also
shows the audience that the
daughter was also involved in the
attack.
13. This is a long shot of a gun store so the
audience knows that someone is here to
buy a gun it also clarifies to the audience
that it is America because in America you
are allowed to own a gun legally with a
license.
This is a mid shot of the main character in
the same gun store as we saw previously,
he is asking to buy a gun which could
suggest to the audience he is going to
commit a crime as he has not got a gun
originally and going through a trauma.
This is a low shot of the main protagonist
looking down at someone which shows the
audience that he is very powerful given the
shot that was used to take this image and
again he is seen in the hoodie we saw before
when he was being the violent criminal side to
his life which suggests to the audience he is
going to recommit a murder again.
14. This lets the audience know the name of the director so
that fans of Eli Roth’s previous work will see that he has
also directed this film and be interested to watch it in turn
drawing in more people and interest into the film.
15. This is a mid shot of the main
protagonist with a red back light in the
background showing the audience he is
going to commit a crime or cause
danger to someone as red is often
associated with blood and danger.
This is a eye line shot of the main
protagonist tying someone up in a garage
showing the audience he is a committing a
crime.
This is a mid shot of the car falling on the
criminal which was set up by the main
protagonist which shows the audience he
has experience in traps and cars.
16. This alerts the audience of the time period that the
film will be released in but not giving away the
actual release date to keep the audience on their
toes and watching all trailers to find the release
date.
17. This is an establishing shot of Seattle skyline this is telling the
audience that they are now in Seattle, America and that all
the characters are most likely to be American.
18. This picture is a mid shot of a couple of guys that have similar
appearances to thugs due to the stereotype of tattoos and
dark clothes along with chains and looking aggressive and
distrusting to who ever they’re looking at which lets the
audience know that they are not good guys and are bad
criminals.
19. The protagonist is once again wearing a hoodie which will tell
the audience that he is about to commit a crime again as he
usually wears a hoodie when committing a crime he is also in
the presence of a man holding a gun which suggests to the
audience he is talking to criminals.
20. Fans of Bruce Willis watching this trailer will instantly be
drawn to watching the film as they are interested in the
work of Bruce Willis and will expect the film to be good
because Bruce Willis is the main character in this film.
21. This is a long shot of the main protagonist
again wearing his hoodie which tells the
audience he is going to commit a crime
because he always wears his hoodie when
committing a crime but his crime may be
justified this time as he is stopping
another corm from happening.
This is a mid shot of the main character
wearing a hoodie in a dark blue lit club, the
audience knows that when the main character
is wearing his hoodie he is going to commit a
crime as he also has a aggressive expression.
This is a mid shot of a female sitting in the
hospital with a happy thankful look on her
face which tells the audience she is grateful for
being saved by the main protagonist.
22. This is a long shot of a police car chase which shows the
audience there is a crime about happening as the police
are chasing the suspect or rushing to the scene of a crime.
23. This is a mid shot of the main protagonist holding up his finger
in a gun sign towards someone with a humorous look on his face
which shows the audience that he has a lighter side to his killing
machine side.
24. This is the title of the movie and trailer this tells the audience
the title of the film so that when they go to see it in cinema
or buy it on DVD they know what it is called.

therapist, his facial expression is used to
tell the audience that his is thinking
about his actions previously as a
flashback.

hoodie and as the audience knows this
means he is going to commit a crime
which is evident as in this phot he is

and has a large fan base and as it is a
remake of an older film it will attract fans
from the older film and fans of Bruce
Willis also fans of the producing company
to attract a wider audience.

screenplay who will also have a fan base
and be interested in watching this film
