1. Student Spotlight: Kate Parker
Kate Parker is a graduate from the Rowe School of Business at Dalhousie University, where she
earned her Bachelor of Commerce with a Major in Finance. While in her final year, Kate won the 2013
Scotiabank Atlantic Canadian University Interview Competition and was recruited to Scotiabank’s elite
Commercial Associate Program. A rotational training program designed to give exposure to various
financial sectors and to develop expertise in credit analysis and writing.
During her studies, Kate took advantage of the co-op program at Dalhousie University. She worked at
the adidas headquarters in Germany doing marketing for global football apparel, with a center for
street children in Tanzania managing development projects and with Saint Mary’s University Business
Development Center doing business consulting.
Kate is a self-starter who takes initiative and is not afraid to rise to a challenge. She is passionate
about learning, while being organized, efficient and hard working. Kate’s goal was to get as much
valuable experience as possible throughout her studies, in order to build a strong foundation of
knowledge and sense of direction for her future career ambitions in finance. She thrives in
challenging environments and continually looks for ways to increase her education, such as obtaining
her Canadian Securities (CSC) and Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) Designations.
