Seldom has a U.S. Supreme Court ruling been as controversial as
that in the case of Roe v. Wade . Prior to this decision,
abortion regulation was left to the states. In 1973, however, the Court examined state abortion
laws with respect to the right to privacy, a right that is not explicitly protected by the U.S.
This will contribute to my paper and have a lot of legal facts that I will need for a good debate.

Gov. Mitch Daniels of Indiana said Friday that he would sign a bill cutting off Medicaid
financing for Planned Parenthood, a move that lawmakers in several states have begun pondering
as a new approach in the battle over abortion. Indiana becomes the first state to go forward.
Abortion rights supporters condemned the decision, saying it would leave 22,000 poor residents
of Indiana, who use Planned Parenthood's 28 health facilities in the state, with nowhere to go for
a range of women's services, from breast cancer screening to birth control.
This article will be good for my paper because it talks about the battle over abortion and
how Indiana is a state that has gone forward with abortion.

Too little attention has been paid over the past forty years to the complete lack of
a factual record in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, and to the Court's fundamental

assumption that drove the outcome. The decision and opinions were driven by the
medical claim that “abortion was safer than childbirth,” which was raised for the first
time in the briefs in the Supreme Court without any lower court record.
This is pretty much all about the history of abortion and about legal facts of
abortions.

This article talks a lot about the health problems that can occur with abortions. It states
several different things that can happen to you. They do not happen to everyone but everyone has
a chance of getting them.
I like this article because I think, knowing about the health problems and side effects of
abortion is something all women should know before they consider getting an abortion.

This article is about how abortion should be determined, legally. Twenty percent of respondents
argued a constitutional amendment would be a better method to determine the legality of
abortion. Zero respondents proposed that the executive branch should decide whether abortion
should be legal.
This source mainly talks about the legalization of abortion. It says how and by who it should be
determined. It has great information I can use to talk about the legalization of abortion.

Nearly 7,800 women opted to terminate pregnancies in Indiana in 2017, almost 500 more
than the previous year, according to an annual report released June 30 by the Indiana State
Department of Health. The report looks at abortion trends over a five-year period.
This talks about the abortion trend in Indiana and how it is increasing over time. This
goes to show how popular abortions can be.

Women in their 30s and older accounted for a much smaller percentage of abortions and
had lower abortion rates. In 2013, women aged 20-24 and 25-29 years accounted for 32.7% and
25.9% of all abortions, respectively, and had abortion rates of 21.8 and 18.2 abortions per 1,000
women aged 20-24 and 25-29 years.
This article talks a lot about percentages and ages which is helpful when it comes to the
debate. It will help me show different ages and number of when people had abortions and how
many people have had abortions.

This article is about people being educated on abortion. It says you should do what works
for you and to always do the right thing. It also talks about having a help center to be able to
focus. At the end there is somewhat of a debate.
I think this article is helpful because it has a lot of different information. It mentions other
women, help centers and other facts about abortion. It talks about the pros of a help center and
what they can do for you.

Jones, R. K., & Jerman, J. (2017). Population Group Abortion Rates and Lifetime Incidence of
Abortion: United States, 2008–2014. American Journal of Public Health, 107(12),
1904–1909. https://doi.org/10.2105/AJPH.2017.304042
The abortion rate declined 25%, from 19.4 to 14.6 per 1000 women aged 15 to 44 years.
The abortion rate for adolescents aged 15 to 19 years declined 46%, the largest of any group.
Abortion rates declined for all racial and ethnic groups but were larger for non-White women
than for non- Hispanic White women. Although the abortion rate decreased 26% for women with
incomes less than 100% of the federal poverty level, this population had the highest abortion rate
of all the groups examined: 36.6.
I think this information is very useful for my paper. It tells me a lot of good facts about
ages at which women mainly get abortions. It also talks about ethnicities and different incomes.

This article says that abortion rates have declined. It says it in more difficult for a woman
to end her pregnancy in this state.
Having abortion facts about Indiana will improve my paper and will be more interesting
because it hits closer to home.
