This document discusses gender inequality and lack of empowerment for women in Italy. It provides statistics showing Italy ranking poorly (76th out of 153 countries) in the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report, with significant gaps in women's economic participation and opportunities. While more women are pursuing higher education, they still earn less than men with the same degrees. Networks like Young Women Network and its mentoring programs aim to empower women and girls by helping them develop skills and ambitions outside traditional roles. Initiatives in STEM fields are especially important to prepare women for future jobs and address the lack of women in these areas. More comprehensive policies are still needed to achieve true gender equality across political, education, labor and family domains in Italy.

is still a country in which gender
inequalities are deeply rooted and widespread.
Multiple International studies certify this, including the
World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report

dimensions: participation in economic life and
opportunities, education and training, health and
survival, empowerment.
The Report places Italy in 76th in a worsening

away". In Italy, according to the latest Istat data, the gap between the
employment rate of women and that of men is 18.9%, in Europe only
Malta is worse.

9. Digital Education for Young Women
YWN has been dealing with STEM and digital for several years, as we believe that
on these issues regardless of their background or profession.
For this reason, although they are technical skills, we also consider them soft basic skills for "literacy"
of young people. In 2017 we created as the only Italian association a report for the G20 in Germany
focused on the theme of "digital gender equality".
The Report notes that between now and
. The analysis also denounces that at the level of
the G20 countries there will not be enough women trained on STEM and digital to seize the
aforementioned professional opportunities, and in Italy, training initiatives on these issues are
mainly dedicated to girls up to 17 years of age.
This is the main reason why we decided to take action on our target: 25-35 years.
