The honors program students at Sweet Briar College made 66 loans totaling $2,000 through Kiva, an organization supporting entrepreneurs in developing countries. The loans went to women in 26 countries, most popularly the Philippines and Peru. After one year, $1,556 had been paid back from the honors loans, with $208 in loans still outstanding. The Y:1 class loans were also successful, with 6 of 8 paid back fully. Loan recipients expressed gratitude for the support in helping their businesses and families.
