The document presents two timelines - a typical timeline and an alternate timeline - for a woman's life and career progression. The typical timeline shows women conforming to social norms and experiencing career stagnation from ages 25-67. The alternate timeline shows how conscious thought and change can allow women to challenge norms, continually develop themselves and their careers, and design opportunities to retire earlier with financial security. The document provides 13 tips for how women can proactively design their lives according to the alternate timeline through changing limiting beliefs and behaviors.

LIFE & BUSINESS
Our Internal & External World
13 ½ points of Change & Choice
2. A vague timeline of what we might do!
0 – 7
years
Values & Beliefs are
formed
8 - 25
Set in stone and
influenced by all
around us to
conform & follow
the tribe
25 - 40
Possibly we do
some personal
development linked
to our job or we
become parents and
delay our
progression as our
priorities have
changed
40 –
50
We have an empty
nest and look
around to see what
opportunities there
are
50 –
67
We spend years
until retirement in a
lower paid role than
we deserve
67 to
death
Fingers crossed we
have saved enough
for our pension to
live a comfortable
life
External age
Internal drivers
(unchallenged)
This is a possible, not a rule of thumb & may be probable for many without Conscious thought & change
NB: current retirement age for Women in the UK (to claim Government pension is 67
3. An alternate timeline of what we might do!
0 – 7
years
Values & Beliefs
are formed
8 - 25
We choose to challenge and
stand up and out from the
norm. We design our own
values & beliefs that serve
us
We create our own tribe
25 - 40
We continue CPD for
ourselves and our role
or business
We become parents
(or not) and organise
our priorities to suit
us and our future our
priorities have
changed
40 –
50
We have
planned our
opportunities &
the choice is
ours
50
– 67
We spend our
years fruitfully
creating the
future we
deserve without
relying on
Government
pensions
67 to
death
We enjoy our later
years with gusto,
and laughter & we
will have ’retired’
early if at all as we
love what we do so
much
