8. Primary packaging is the material that first envelops the product and holds it. This
usually is the smallest unit of distribution or use and is the package which is in
direct contact with the contents.
Examples: Ampoules, Vials ,Containers, Dosing dropper, Primary Closures (plastic,
metal, rubber), Syringe, Strip package, Blister packaging.

10. Secondary packaging is outside the primary packaging –perhaps used
to group primary packages together and act as a support for both
primary package and content.
Example: Paper and boards, Inner Cartons, Box, Leaflet or Inserts,
Labels etc.

transport shipping. The most common form is a palletized unit load
that packs tightly into containers.
