The document outlines a social innovation project called Y-Prize by a group called WeSoL. The group consists of 7 members who plan to produce and sell 3D solar lamps made from recycled materials. Their prototype lamp is assumed to be cheaper than existing options and appeals to people through its 3D design. Their target market is Uganda where many lack electricity, though they plan to initially focus on the middle class in Kampala and later reach rural areas. Details of price, promotion, management, and finances are not yet fully outlined. The group will work with Tunapanda to establish their base and sell prototypes in markets and lighting locations in different towns and villages in Uganda.

3. Our Product/Idea
Produce and sell 3D solar lamps using recycled material
Innovative and gives us complete control over production and product
Assumption that making the product will be cheaper than what is already on the
market
Assumption that people like 3D
Show Prototype
4. Market
-25% of Uganda population in under the poverty line.
-However around 68% of the people are without electricity
This is nice because our market will focus on middle class We need to focus
on people we can afford the light so that we can establish a base in the short
term. Long term we hope to reach out to the rural areas and will an
established market, we can be flexible with pricing.
5. Place
Kampala, the capital
Has a wide range of backgrounds. It realies heavily on the lake for electricity. So
when lake doesn’t run, the electricity stops. Most wealthy people have generators
7. Promotion
Timeline:
get to Uganda and establish a base.
Go to different towns/villages and display the
power of 3D printing along with our prototype
Sell in the markets and at locations where other
means of lighting are already sold
