Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:
Directed all aspects of command and control for a United States (US) Army Diving Engineer Detachment
comprised of 25 Underwater Combat Engineers (Divers), Maintenance, Supply, and Medical personnel
while a Sergeant First Class (E7) in a First Sergeant (E8) billet. During this time, received among the best
ratings by three Company Commanders and rated in the top two of all Battalion Sergeants by two
different Battalion Commanders. Selected by Battalion Command team to be the Senior Non-
Commissioned Officer (NCO) for the 86th Engineer Dive Detachment on a nine-month deployment to
Kuwait Naval Base in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in the place of higher ranking personnel.
Received an excellence rating for the deployment and was awarded the Army Meritorious Service Medal
for the overall performance of the team.
Provided direct oversight of salvage and underwater construction projects on multiple missions for the
United States military and the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) throughout the
United States and in the Middle East as a qualified Master Diver.
Provided oversight and coordination between USACE and Army units ensuring multi-departmental
construction projects followed all applicable safety standards in accordance with the regulations and
established safety procedures: including but not limited to the following: USACE 385-1-1; US Navy
Dive Manual; Army regulation 611-75; applicable technical manuals and drawings. Tasks performed

(WESS) Dive Jumps Recording System (DJRS).
Directed rigging and lifting operations for various sizes of equipment and machinery from generators
to a hyperbaric chamber in a connex box. Rigged loads from 5,000 lbs to 200,000 lbs.
Directed and supervised underwater search and recovery operations including security swims;

Performed the duties of Duty Diving Officer, Duty Master Diver, Instructor, and Writer supervising training
teams and instructing soldiers attending Military Occupancy Series (MOS) 12 Advanced Individual
Training (AIT), member of the United States Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (SEABEEs), and officers
from all branches attending the Basic Marine Diving Officers training through rigorous courses up to thirty
(30) weeks long, ensuring the safety and academic program for over 120 students per year. Received
Excellence and Success ratings during this time and was awarded the Army Meritorious Service Medal
for performance of duties.
As Duty Diving Officer and Command Master Diver at Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center
(NDSTC), provided safety oversight by ensuring all aspects of OPNAVINST(s) 3150.27B; 5100.19E;
8020.14; and were being followed by each training team prior to them commencing training. This
oversight covered all aspects of SCUBA and surface supplied diving operations and high risk
demolitions training as well as hyperbaric operations resulting in the completion of 800 incident free
dives.
Acted as Lead Instructor of the Second Class Diver program training team which oversaw ten
separate training exercises that totaled more than 1,000 minutes of incident-free bottom time. This
team achieved an 80% course graduation rate for the Second Class Diver program, the highest rate

Led a 12 man dive team to conduct a priority bridge explosive demolitions mission, coordinated with
multiple command levels, which involved the detonation of more than 1,500 pounds of underwater
explosives while working in zero visibility and 8 knots of current. The mission was completed without
injury or damage to surrounding structures. Primary reason for receiving the Bronze Star and Army
Achievement Medal during deployment.
Provided critical demolition expertise for expedient dredging operations enabling a time sensitive
multi service combat mission to be accomplished safely and on time.
Successfully directed the salvage and recovery of two naval patrol boats and one naval pickup truck
resulting in the receipt of a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for the effort.
Performed as a diving supervisor for both SCUBA and surface-supplied diving operations throughout
Kuwait, Iraq and the Middle East.
Established a maintenance program that integrated non-standard equipment into the Army’s
