Convention Bureau. She was previously a
research executive at the bureau, and has
had a strong background in service suppliers,

Gary Pearce has also been appointed business
development manager at the Brisbane
Convention Bureau. Mr Pearce comes to the
convention bureau with an extensive hotel sales
background over the past 15 years working in

other staff placements, Juliet Alabaster has
been appointed senior manager business
development and bidding, and Jill Wimberley
has been appointed senior coordinator,
business development & bidding.

Ben Johnson has been appointed director of
sales and marketing for Outrigger Fiji Beach
Resort and Castaway Island Fiji, based in
Sydney. Mr Johnson joins Outrigger Resorts
from TAJ Hotels, Resorts and Palaces where
he was regional director of sales & marketing,
Australia and New Zealand. Prior to this he
worked as director of sales & marketing for
Blue Sydney Hotel, part of the TAJ group and
a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.

Ian Wainright has been appointed event
director of the Asia-Pacific Incentives and
Meetings Expo (AIME). A global events
marketing specialist with more than 13 years'
experience, Mr Wainwright has an
understanding of all facets of the industry,
enabling him to bring a variety of
perspectives to AIME, from the corporate,
association and not for profit sectors.

Elena Peridis has been appointed marketing
manager of AIME, Reed Travel Exhibitions.

appointed trade events executive at Gold
Coast Business Events. Ms Raj has spent the
last 12 years in events after studying a
Bachelor of Hotel Management, majoring in
events at Griffith University. Ms Raj will
manage the Gold Coast Business Events
program of trade events including AIME, an
upcoming post-Dreamtime famil program,
and the three day annual June event 'This is
Gold Coast Business Exchange.'

Eleanor Gilkes has been appointed sales and
marketing coordinator of Complete Travel
Marketing. Ms Gilkes brings strong tourism
and hospitality experience to her role having
held various sales and marketing positions in
companies encompassing tourism boards
and PCOs such as Arinex, Brand Orange
and, most recently, Tourism Australia.

Melissa Lee has been appointed business

Russell Williss has been appointed New
Zealand country director of Hawaiian Airlines.
In this role, Mr Williss will be responsible for all
commercial functions including the
development and planning of Hawaiian
Airlines' growth strategy for New Zealand. The
appointment comes following the airline's
recent announcement it is moving to an
in-house commercial business model in line
with growth in its New Zealand operation.

appointed bars
manager at the Intercontinental Sydney. Mr
Toubia will be responsible for overseeing
the new Intercontinental Supper Club,
innovating and creating a culture where the
focus is on the array of beverage choices.
His knowledge in this subject will also drive
the beverage agenda across all other
Intercontinental Sydney outlets. His bar and
hospitality experience goes back more than
10 years, working and owning iconic
venues such as Magazin, Grasshopper, and
Zeta Bar. m
