Thisis the box that determinesappropriate
resolutionandstorage locationensuringthere is
sufficientstorage available forthe required
resolution.
Here is where we determine whichfilesare
storedwhere andwhy.We can forexample
choose to store the audioand videoineither
separate locationsorthe same location.
To the leftisthe bin. This iswhere all of the folders
containingthe differentfiles are kept.Thisbinallows
us to orderthe filesandname themappropriately.
We can use thisbox to ensure thatthe line-upis
correct and to requiredtechnicalstandards.For
example,we cankeepHDclipsseparate fromtheir
SD proxycounterpartswhichwill allow ustomake an
offline editif we sochoose.
It alsoallowsusto separate andrate goodclipsfrom
bad clips.If remedial actionisrequiredwithregards
to systemfailure forexample aharddrive failure,the
builtinredundancywithregardstothe RAID system
whichensureseverythingisduplicatedautomatically
ontoa secondharddrive will protectagainstlossor
damage of valuable materials.
Unit 23: 3 – Be able tooperate the systemandequipment correctly.
To the leftisthe toolspallet.This
has basictimeline manipulation
toolsthat offerthe userthe ability
to cut, trim, paste and move clips
aroundat will.
Whenclipsare placedonthe
timeline,insome casesaudiowould
be attachedto the video“in
camera”. Howeverinmycase I used
the audiofromthe cameraas a
scratch track, thisallowedme toline
up the professionalaudiofroman
external recorderaccurately.Thisis
shownto the righthere,the green
bar is the audiotrack that I had to
line upmanuallyusingthe scratch
audiotrack fromthe camera.
