4.1 – Explain opportunities for exploiting converging technology
Due to consumers now using smart phones and using apps more and more, apps
provide the best opportunities for exploiting converging technologies because of
adverts within the apps themselves. Using geographical locations to target
consumers, advertisers are able to recover data on consumer led trends.
4.2 – Research and plan a test for an identified opportunity
I have found an opportunity to exploit converging technology. I am teaming up
with a member of staff here (Simon Robinson) and doing a very short video of
me playing about on a drum set. The content of the video is not important, it is
more so to distinguish between an actual video camera and that of a smart
phone. We know that a video camera is going to have a higher quality, however it
is much more convenient if you can get away with using a smartphone. A
smartphone is more portable, plus with my particular workplace it can be hard
to gain access to our equipment if we have to leave the premises to use it
whereas a smartphone is more portable. This is convergence as you are working
across different platforms to carry out a task. The next point will show how.
