BENEFITS OF OER  Cheap and free resources for students.  Greater access to education via widespread dissemination.  More options for teachers seeking materials, methods, and ideas.  Works against the old paradigm of education for the privileged few.  Enables students to preview courses and better determine their path through institutionalized education.
CHALLENGES OF OER  Lack of public knowledge about OER.  Students’ lack of trust in OER.  Quality assurance.  Lack of funding for maintenance.  Teachers’ lack of trust in OER.
