HOBBIES
I have been involved with a variety of personal projects that incorporate various
mechanical and electrical/electronic components, and mechanical fabrication
using a 19x 96” lathe, Lagun MT3 milling machine, drill presses, MIG and TIG
welder and other devices. Several such projects are listed below.
Drag Racing Motorcycle – This included a custom high performance 4 cylinder
engine that featured a self made fuel injection control system. The fuel injection
controller was based on a derivative of the Intel 8051 microcontroller. The
microcontroller monitored engine speed, fuel/air mixture and the exhaust
temperature to drive the fuel injectors at the appropriate rate. In the final version
the microcontroller also operated a pneumatic actuator to control transmission
gear shifting while data logging. The microcontroller firmware was developed in
assembly language.
UAV – An small unmanned aerial vehicle (helicopter) that features counter-rotating
6-bladed main rotor hubs instead of a tail rotor. This is a work in progress
and is being fabricated from scratch, not a kit. It will include a computer based
control system and RF communications for remote control.
4. I also enjoy home improvement projects, things that allow to design and
build around my home as well as the design of my home.
In addition I have done various residential pool designs as well as drawings
necessary for the submission of permits in both the state of Nevada and Arizona.
