Key Features of Proposed Research
Facebook has been the platform used by the students to share their
insights and thoughts to vent out their perception towards a distinctive topic.
In light with this, both Filipino and English are the official languages of the
Philippines, so it's common for us Filipinos to switch languages given our
bilingualism. The students often post and share status in their native and
English language.
Apart from admitting that Facebook can generate a grammar discussion
among its users, the respondents in majority consider this to be interesting
which indicates their acknowledgment of this social networking site’s potential
to promote collaborative learning of English grammar as compared to
autonomous learning.
Key Features of Proposed Research
In using the screenshots of the status and
postings of the students in a given time frame, this
discourse analysis is going to analyze the structure
of Facebook status and postings of the students by
using questionnaire and some statistical methods.
Conceptual/Theoretical Framework
Independent Variable Dependent Variable
This figure above shows the conceptual framework of the study. In the independent variable,
the researchers include the social media platform- Facebook. In the process, the researchers took a
screenshots on the random social media posts of the respondents in Facebook in a given timeframe.
After gathering the data, the researchers will be able to analyze and interpret the data. Lastly, the
expected outcome of this study is to map out in which structure of English, specifically in the
punctuations and capitalizations of the status and postings do the students of Iloilo Science and
Technology University Miagao Campus excels and underperforms at.

language map
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM TABLE

study?
3. Where do the students of BSED ENGLISH 2A have more errors
between punctuations and capitalization?
4. What are the implications of the result?
Delimitation of the study
This study is focused on mapping out the structure of English where the
population of 30 tertiary students of English Language, Education council at
Iloilo science and Technology University Miagao Campus excels and
underperforms most. The researchers will be limiting the number of
respondents to thirty with respect to the class population and the number
required for the validity of this research. The researcher will be taking
screenshot of the students’ Facebook status and postings on the month of
December (31 Days). Rest assured that all the data acquired from the students
will be confidential and will be used purely for research only.
Significance of the Study
The study will benefit the following:

excel most and underperforms in using punctuations and capitalizations in their
Facebook status and postings. This will help them find ways to enhance their students’
usage of punctuations and capitalizations.
Parents. Like the teachers, the parents too have an idea about their children’s usage of

punctuation and capitalizations of students in their Facebook status and postings. By
this they will be able to create and formulate useful strategies to help students
enhance their usage of punctuation and capitalizations.
Future Researcher. Serves as the basis on conducting their future studies. This may
build a foundation and aspire them to discover more and acquire greater
understanding.
