When the speaking mastery of English students is excellent, this happens because the students can manage to
express themselves and feel, thoughts and ideas are accepted and conveyed to the audience, and can achieve
good results.
But in the fact, mostly students avoided to speak English because they unable to speak English in daily
conversation and still less opportunity to practice it (Dewi, Styati, & Kurniawan, 2022). In learning a
language, personality factors will be the important factors to be considered by the language learner. Brown
(1994) in Principles of Language Learning and Teaching Book states that personality factors involved in the
intrinsic side of affectivity. One of specific affective factors in personal behaviors that observed by researcher
is self-esteem. In this research, the personality types used are based on Gustav Jung's theory, which is divided
into introvert and extrovert. Therefore, this research is done due to identify is there correlation between self
personality and self-esteem on speaking mastery in English Department of Islamic Institute of Darussalam.
