Quality Intelligence - what does the term stand for in theory and in practice? This is a follow up to my previous presentation about why I think QI should replace QA as the acronym of choice.
2. Theoretical Definition
● “Business intelligence (BI) can be described as "a set of techniques and
tools for the acquisition and transformation of raw data into meaningful
and useful information for business analysis purposes”” [1]
● Quality intelligence (QI) can be described as "a set of techniques and tools
for the acquisition and transformation of raw data into meaningful and
useful information for quality analysis purposes”

7. Summary
● Quality Intelligence is about gathering and transforming data into something useful for our
stakeholders
● One big part of gathering data is testing and summarizing test results
● Another big part is gathering input from the Business Performance, Customer Support, Incident
Management, Product Monitoring Tools, and other relevant information sources
● Finally we must transform this gathered data into something that makes sense to our
stakeholders, and which will help them in their decision-making
○ It is very important to set the stakeholders’ needs first - we are gathering and transforming
data for them, not for ourselves
○ When evaluating the impact or value of a piece of information - always take the
stakeholder’s perspective, not your own
● Once we have transformed the data we must share this data with our stakeholders in the most
efficient way
