3. COMPARE OR CONTRAST ESSAY BETWEEN SCIENCE MOVIE AND FICTION
MOVIE
As all of us know, science genre movies often tell about science things for example
technologies, chemicals and many others. The stories may be either true or not true or partially
true and involving the theories of science. On the other hand, fiction genre movies are
categorized into few types which are the fantasy, the historical fiction, the mystery, the realistic
fiction and also the science fiction. One of the most interesting one, the fantasy fiction which is
also my favourite, usually talk about the elements that are not realistic, it may be talking about
the animals, the magical powers, setting in medieval universe or involving mythical things and
so on. The movies that I have chosen to contrast are the science movie, Big Hero 6 and the
fiction movie, Cinderella.
Big Hero 6 depicts about the special bond that develops between the plus-sized inflatable
robot Baymax which was invented by Tadashi Hamada, brother of the prodigy Hiro Hamada
who died in the building explosion, and Hiro Hamada, who team up with Tadashi’s friends,
forming a band of high-tech heroes to expose the mystery of Tadashi death. Moreover, the movie
Cinderella depicts about the story between a young girl Cinderella’s, her two rude and ugly
stepsisters who jealous on her beauty and treat her very badly, and her cruel stepmother who
tried to prevent her from attending the Royal Ball where she and the Prince fall in love, she got
some unexpected help from the lovely mice Gus and Jaq, and also her fairy Godmother.
First and foremost, although the movie I chose are both animated movie, the storylines are
totally different, Big Hero 6 includes a lot of mysterious, nervous and touching scene which are
able to bring the audiences’ mood up and down. The mystery behind of Tadashi’s death leads to
the curiosity of audiences. Besides that, the scene when the mystery guy with mask is trying to
kill Hiro and the team also brings the audiences’ mood up. Other than that, there are also a lot of
touching scene that earns a lot of audiences’ tears, as an example when Baymax is willing to give
up its life to save Hiro and Callaghan’s daughter. However, Cinderella is totally the inverse of
Big Hero 6, the story of this movie is very smooth and dreamy. I believe that becoming
Cinderella what every girl have been dreaming about when they were young.

4. Secondly, the main character of Big Hero 6, Hiro Hamada is a intelligent 14 years old kid.
He likes science and have invented a lot of creative things, megabot is one of his invention which
he used for the robot fight. He then makes some changes on the megabot and transforms it into
microbot which he presented in the school’s science fair. On the other side, Cinderella is a kind
and optimist young lady who has a lot fortunes in her life. When her father died, although she
was really upset, she didn’t give up her life but grew up happily. Unlike Cinderella, Hiro thought
to give up on science, he closed himself in his room, not going to school and not meeting anyone
except Baymax. Though these, you can see that the main characters from both movies are totally
different from every aspect.
Thirdly, the story of Big Hero 6 has a touching and happy ending with the climax where
the team works together to destroy Callaghan’s microbot. Baymax detects Callaghan’s daughter
Abigail inside the unstable teleportation portal, alive but in hyper-sleep, and leaps into the portal
with Hiro to rescue her. Due to some damages on Baymax, they may not have the chance to go
back through the portal opening to safety, Baymax wills to give up his life, he uses his armor’s
rocket to push them out, leaving himself behind. Everything then goes back to normal, Callaghan
is caught by the police, Hiro rebuilds Baymax with the chip which clenched in the rocket fist,
and the six friends continue their exploits through the city, fulfilling Tadashi’s dream of helping
those in need. Cinderella on the other hand also has a smooth happy ending, not touching but
sweet and harmony, the prince found Cinderella with the glass slipper and brings her back to the
castle. They then marry and live happily together after.
In the conclusion, people may thought that Big Hero 6 and the Cinderella are quite similar
because both of them are animated movies and are the production of Walt Disney. However,
these two movies are totally different, they have many differences even in the story lines, the
characteristics of the two main characters or the ending of the movies and the evidences above
show how different these two movies are.
