The preproposal for my FMP project.

1. Tell me in no more than20 words, what is your
FMP idea?
Another printproject – cover and doublepage
spreads - with a promotionalvideo alongside to
advertise the collection.
Why have youdecided to makeit? I havedecided tomake this because I really
enjoyed the printproject thatwe did earlier in the
year. I also enjoyed creating the music video. I
thoughtthatI couldput these two togetherand
create a fashion/art magazinesimilar to i-D or
Vogue, which havea collection then create a
video alongsidethatcollection to promoteit. I like
reading fashionmagazines, and lovethe
aesthetics thatthe editors use andthe choice of
pictures andthe locations. I like fashion
photography, andwatchingvideoswhich show
the way the pictures were takenand havingmusic
in the backgroundthatfits the aesthetics.
What aboutyourproject makesit importantto
you?
This project is importanttome because I want to
be able tocreate the thingsI see in these
magazines. I like the way they look – howthey
aren’t mainstreamandare ‘edgy’ and
independent. I like this becauseit appealsto a
select few who understandthemagazine, unlike
Vogue which appeals toanyone. I like the fact that
it is different toother fashion magazines, it hasa
completely different aesthetic and‘vibe’ to it. I
want to domy FMP onthis because I am
confident enoughthatI could create my own
art/fashion magazineand it come outquite
professional.

idea/work and somepotential research targets
(remember, research isn’t justa paperbased

- Magazines – i-d, Vogue, independentart
magazines.
I want to look at independentBritish art/fashion
magazinesthat aren’tas popularas Vogue. This
will influence me because it meansthatmy FMP
won’tbe just a straight copy of a popular
magazine, rather an original creation.
For my promotionalvideos, I will look at the
YouTubeChannelsof i-Dand Vogue andsimilar
fashionmagazines whocreate these videos – I will
even go as far as to look at designer brands
themselvesas they doit themselves – e.g. Gucci,
Michael Kors, Balenciaga, Louis Vuittonetc.
What effect do youwant to haveon your
audience when they see yourproject?
I want to create a videothat helpspeople around
me feel comfortablewith their insecurities. I want
the people who are watching to knowthat having
insecurities is okay and thatthey are beautiful just
the way they are. I want my project to make
people think, aboutthemselves, peoplearound
them andhow to treat people, because people
could be suffering in silence. I want to ‘research’

2. the people aroundme andtry to help them as
muchas I can. I don’twantpeople to feel scared
when they goout in public or avoidcertain
clothes, because they don’tfeel like they look
good.
Describe the tone/mood/styleofyourproject
[which productiontechniques/characteristicsare
youemploying?]
The style of my magazineis goingto be quite arty
and‘edgy’ similar to those like i-D. I wantto
advertise toteenagers who study
art/graphics/fashionor who are interested in
these areas.
My style will match the aesthetics of my audience,
makingit appeal to them more andwant to read
it more. I want the project to havea light-hearted
feel and a positiveeffect on the audience, as I
want to help people, and the way they view
themselves. As a sufferer of insecurities andbad
mental health, I don’twish these feelings on
anybody andwouldlike to help people avoidthem
as muchas possible.
Why have youdecided to makeyour project in
this style?
To appeal to people who study thingslike this, so
they can understanditon the samelevel that I do.
I think it will benefit my study ofthis area aswell
as it will help me widen my knowledge of this area
of art.
Makingmy project in thisstyle, will advocateto
many genres of audience, as somewill want to
read it for the article, or justwatch the video, and
some will want to study thephotography andthe
editing stylesthat I haveused.
