The Ave traditional area in the Akatsi North District of the Volta region, has served warning to Torgbi Attah Kofi VII, the Wlormefia or Fianorxorme of the area, to refrain from holding himself as the Paramount Chief of Ave-Dakpa and to stop performing certain traditional and administrative functions which are reserved for the Paramount Chief of the area and President of the Ave Council of Chiefs, Torgbiga Nyamekor Glakpe V.

Stop Holding Yourself As Paramount Chief of Ave-Dakpa Traditional Area Warms Torgbi Attah Kofi VII
1. 03/11/2023
PRESS RELEASE
Torgbui Atta Kofi Holding Himself As The Paramount Chief Of Ave Dakpa.
I wish to draw your attention to some recent actions of Torgbui Attah Kofi (the
Wlormefia/Fianorxorme) which are purely the functions of a Paramount Chief.
I had to result to this taking into consideration the fragile peace of Ave-Dakpa since he,
Torgbui Attah Kofi took me to court. More so, my reactions to these things may not be
lenient. In an earlier letter to him captioned LETTER OF CAVEAT, dated 13th December
2022, I reminded him about the importance of keeping the peace while we are in court but it
seems he is bent on forcing my hand.
Since time immemorial, the Paramount Chiefs have performed all administrative and
deliberative functions and exercise the requisite powers that come with it by custom and
tradition while the Fianorxorme has been restricted to certain spiritual functions only.
It has become necessary for me to address you my people on the vexatious resolve of our
Fianorxorme to usurp my powers and functions. The following are some actions and
decisions taken by him after my last letter warning him to desist from the above mentioned
acts of usurpation.
1. The annual Calendar of programme of activities of the town is usually signed by the
Paramount Chief. While his predecessors never signed this calendar in the past, yet he
purported to do so this year.
2. In connivance with the assembly man, and in a fragrant disrespect and disregards to my
directive to Tony Quist, In July this year, he formed a committee to modernize De
Ameshikpe Za
3. On 17th July when I was in mourning, again in connivance with the Assembly Man, he
called for and organized a town hall meeting (Dutakpekpe) to deliberate on the said De
Ameshikpe Za.
4. About the same time, he announced (foga ne Dua) to the town, a ban on funerals and that
funerals should only take place during Easter.
2. 5. When Togbe Dogli the Paramount Chief of Ave Dzalele died he organized a meeting and
directed that an amount of One Thousand Ghana Cedis should be released from ADIC for
donation.
All these constitute usurpation my office as Paramount Chief of Ave-Dakpa as they are not
within his remit as Fianorxorme.
And now, again while am in mourning, information reaching me is that he, Attah Kofi has
called a meeting tomorrow Sunday, 5th November 2023 with the Asafohenes, queen mothers,
Tsiamis, and Dzikpuitorwo to meet with some officials from the Regional House of Chiefs to
install or recognize him Attah Kofi as the Paramount Chief and Newman Kpogo as the
Fianorxorme. I want to state that the presence of officials from the Regional House of Chiefs
for such an unlawful event is only possible if they are unscrupulous officials who will do
such a thing for personal gain while the case is in court.
THE DIVISIVE ACTIONS OF THE ASSEMBLY MAN
I have long suspected that the Assemblyman and Presiding Member of The Distrct Assembly,
“Honorable” Patrick Ahiabu as one of the people behind the precarious atmosphere of our
town and his recent actions have confirmed my long held suspicion.
I can mentioned a litany of things he did that has deepened the division and heightened
tension among us as a people. For now, I will mention only one of his several acts of
divisiveness.
Sometimes this year, Tony Quist approached me with a proposal to modernize the “De
Ameshikpe Za”, I directed him(Tony Quist) to the TMC for a coordinated plan for my
approval. But in total disrespect and disregard to me, Tony Quist rather went to see the
Assemblyman who led Tony to Torgbui Attah Kofi with the proposal. Without my
knowledge. Then the Assemblyman in collusion with Attah Kofi, formed a committee, to
spearhead the modernization of “De Ameshikpe Za”. Further to that, they called and held a
town hall meeting without my prior knowledge and consent.
Enough is enough, I am by this press release calling on all and sundry and those invited to the
meeting or event being organized by Attah Kofi tomorrow Sunday 5th November to ignore
that invitation and refrain from attending the said meeting. Please take notice that your
attendance may be at your peril. The lawful authorities have been duly informed for their
action.
I wish to make it abundantly clear that my patience in the interest of peace has been fully
exhausted. I will no longer sit by and watch my position as paramount chief dishonoured.
There is only one paramount chief of Ave-Dakpa and that is me. There will be no other
paramount chief. There is no Chief above me at Ave-Dakpa, neither is my position a Yevufia
position. Henceforth my reactions shall be swift and decisive, albeit within our customs and
3. the laws for the land. I am the paramount and highest chief of Ave-Dakpa and no one should
deceive himself into believing that this fact will change under my watch.
Be advised
