2. • You know that Paddington is an
orphan; he was found lost at
Paddington Station and comes from
darkest Peru.
3. • Paddington was lucky enough to come on
a huge adventure with my family.
4. • When we told him about all the new
experiences that lay ahead he was so
excited, but a little bit scared as well –
perhaps a bit like we feel when we start
something new or something different is
going to happen.
5. • Paddington picked up his luggage from
the airport and was ready for his first
adventures.
6. • Very soon he began to realise that he
was lucky to have a new family and
friends who loved him with a lovely
home. Lots of children in Peru live on
the street.
7. Paddington made new friends wherever
he went because he always said hello
and smiled.
8. He learned so many things during his stay in Peru.
The Inca people from Peru believe that to love, to
teach and to learn, to love to learn, to love to
teach, to learn to love and any mix of these must
be a way of life. Paddington thought this was
great.
9. He listened and learned. Here he is
learning about how to dye alpaca wool.
10. • He learned to speak Spanish by asking
questions and watching television
12. He learned how different people in other
countries are and was very pleased to
wear his beautifully woollen outfit from
Peru.
13. He was brave and did things he had never
done before. Here he is about to climb up to
above 4200 metres.
14. Sometimes he needed help, but that was all right.
We were a team and we were all there to help each
other when the going got tough. Here he is having
oxygen to help him breathe at high altitude.
15. When he finished the tough climb, he felt on
top of the world. He found out that you never
know what you can do until you try.
16. Paddington joined in and made new friends and
tried new foods. He did not like Quinoa, but at
least he tasted it before he decided. He was
surprised to learn that he loved pizco sour, alpaca
and guinea pig, the country’s specialities.
17. He was very careful to respect nature and all the beautiful
places he visited. He did once need to do a wee wee in the
woods, but he checked with the guide to see if that was
allowed.
18. He was amazed by the beautiful flowers
and he did not care if anyone thought
that it wasn’t cool to like flowers.
19. He was thrilled to have his passport
stamped when he visited one of the seven
wonders of the world, Macchu Picchu
20. He could not believe how beautiful and amazing
Macchu Picchu was and decided to work hard and
play hard so that he could do well at school, get a
good job one day and take his children to see it
too.
21. As a special reward for being such a good
bear and climbing such steep mountains,
Paddington went swimming and sunbathing.
22. • Why don’t you think about all the
wonderful things that make you feel on top
of the world too!
• Which mountains have you had to climb to
achieve what you have?
