Conference papers and presentations
I have been a prominent contributor on the conference circuit for more than twenty years, during which time I have
remained consistently academically active. I have presented more than eighty formal lectures and workshops at
International, National, Local and Regional conferences on topics as diverse as the integration of Socio-Technical systems
in High Hazard Industries, Neuro-Genetics, Enhancement of Human Cognition and Reduction in Human Error in Industry,
Mental Wellbeing, Child and Adult Mental Health, Intellectual Disabilities, Neuro-Psychiatry, Neuro-Development, Cognitive
Development in Childhood and Adolescence, and various Legal Issues pertaining to Healthcare. A selection of my lectures
and workshops can be seen in PowerPoint form on Researchgate.com.
Publications
I have more than thirty publications in Clinical Medicine and other Socio-Technical Sciences, which have been peer
reviewed by internal and external sources. The estimated combined Impact Factor for twenty-six of these is 17.75. My
publications consist of articles in peer reviewed journals in a variety of specialties, and PowerPoint lectures in the Social
Sciences. A selection of these can be seen in their entirety on Researchgate.com.
2. Teaching
I am an avid supporter of people of all abilities who demonstrate an interest in accessing further education and routinely
create and deliver accessible teaching sessions and workshops for a variety of audiences on topics of interest to any age
or ability, and have written and delivered targeted presentations for Vocational, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate Trainees
at all levels (ages 17 to 80) with specific emphasis on students in Anthropology, Archaeology, Engineering, Medicine,
Nursing, Sociology, Elementary School Children (ages 6 to12); Higher Education School Children (ages 12 to 17), Children
and Adults with Intellectual Impairment and Other Special Cognitive Needs, Adult Mental Health Patients, and Families and
Carers of People with Special Needs and Mental Health Concerns. I consistently receive excellent feedback ratings from my
audiences.
As a University Fellow I have assisted seven Master’s degree and PhD students to complete their coursework and
dissertations. This has included working directly with disabled students to ensure they complete their thesis work, with an
emphasis on establishing links with local businesses to ensure students obtain practical experience in running real life
research projects, including licensed businesses, such as Barclay’s Bank, John Lewis and Sainsbury’s, and third sector
organisations, such as Red to Green and other charities.
I have prepared and marked questions for undergraduate and postgraduate written examinations in safety sciences,
medicine and psychiatry and have spent many years assisting trainees who are preparing for CASC and OSCE style oral
examinations.
Research techniques
I have extensive knowledge in research methodologies as well as practical experience in writing proposals, ethics
protocols, feasibility studies and other required research documentation and applications. I was principal investigator for a
large study at the University of Cambridge Department of Engineering Division C and am the recipient of a Division F seed
grant on Mental Wellbeing. I am certified at a postgraduate level in statistical consulting and am experienced at editing
scientific papers, especially ones that incorporate interdisciplinary thinking styles.
Clinical Skills
I am relatively unique in that I am fully licensed by the GMC to practice psychiatry for patients in all age ranges and with
all neurodevelopmental skill levels and abilities, having been certified by the Royal College of Psychiatrists as a specialist in
both Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing for those with Intellectual Disabilities. My
eight years of postgraduate medical training means I am able to treat adults and children with physical neurological
sequelae such as tic disorders, other functional motor difficulties and epilepsy, as well as mental health difficulties. For this
reason, I am also referred to as a Neuro-psychiatrist.
IT/Technology
My use of Microsoft office products has been formally rated to be at an expert level. I am familiar with a dozen specialized
programmes in generic and specialist statistical analyses, database management, clinical record keeping and other unique
functionalities. I spent more than ten years testing prototype software, both as a software quality engineer and also as a
scientific researcher, and find it easy to learn new programmes.

Personal interests
I enjoy non-competitive long distance cycling. I am an avid scrabble player, arts and crafts dabbler, and appreciate life in the
outdoors.
