My lifestyle choices mainly consist with helping and assisting
people. I heavily enjoy working with other people and I want to
have a job that relates with working with people. I like using my
people skills such as caring, helping, advising, persuading, and
cooperating. My learning styles include learning visually and
auditory. So that means I learn mainly from listening and
seeing. My work values are relationships, achievement, and
recognition. All of these qualities gives me a good sense of
where I want to be in life and what I want to do.
Some of my unique qualities include being
investigative, enterprising, and being social. I’m also good at
problem solving, managing, and working with others. My
foundation building blocks include taking multiple various
classes in high school. Some of which include math
classes, science classes, business classes, and much more. More
of my foundation building blocks will also come from college as
I learn more.
Lawyers represent clients in criminal and civil litigation and other legal
proceedings, draw up legal documents, and manage or advise clients on
legal transactions. They may specialize in a single area or may practice
broadly in many areas of law. Some tasks of being a lawyer include
representing clients in court, present evidence to defend clients or
prosecute defendants in criminal or civil litigation, and negotiate
settlements of civil disputes. Some skills required include critical
thinking, persuasion, and reading comprehension. Some of the work styles
include independence, integrity, and persistence. You'll mostly be working
indoors and battling cases against other people. I’m interested in this
career because I enjoy helping others by defending them in court and I also
think that the legal system is extremely interesting. The college majors
that you would need to take include law and government. You will also
need to go to law school after you graduate college in order to become a
lawyer
Surgeons are physicians who treat diseases, injuries, and deformities by
invasive, minimally-invasive, or non-invasive surgical methods, such as
using instruments, appliances, or by manual manipulation. Some tasks are
operating on patients to correct deformities, repair injuries, prevent and
treat diseases, or improve or restore patients functions and diagnose bodily
disorders and orthopedic conditions and provide treatments, such as
medicines and surgeries, in clinics, hospital wards, and operating rooms.
Some knowledge needed includes medicine, biology, and psychology. The
skills needed to be a good surgeon include speaking, active listening, and
science. I’m interested in this career because I enjoy working with people
and I really want to be a doctor when I grow up. I’m also interested in
repairing the body through surgery and science. The major needed to be
taken in college is biology and pre-med. After graduating college, you must
go to medical school and after that you may become a surgeon.
They are physicians who diagnose, treat, and help prevent disorders
of the mind. Some of their requirements in their job include
prescribing, directing, or administer psychotherapeutic treatments
or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
They also review and evaluate treatment procedures and outcomes
of other psychiatrists or medical professionals. Some of the
knowledge required includes medicine, psychology, and biology. The
college major required for being a psychiatrist is either psychology or
biology. After you complete college, you’ll most likely go to medical
school and you’ll need to complete it. Then you may become a
psychiatrist.
Entrepreneurs are people who control and represent something they are selling or business
owners or managers of a corporation, enterprise or small company. Being an entrepreneur
entails a high level of managerial insight, time, capital investment, human resource skills and
business savvy. Many business schools and business associations promote entrepreneurship as
a way to be independent, see your career aspirations come true and help the community.
However, this occupation requires immense sacrifice including long hours due to being
responsible all business investments and actions. Some of the pros of being an Entrepreneur
include being independent, directing business, help the economy, and a chance to show your
business ideas and visions. You can expect managing and moving your business in the right
direction. This job has so many different directions that you can take, because you control your
own business and you do what you want. An entrepreneur usually works as the manager or top
executive of his or her company. If the company becomes a corporation, the entrepreneur
might become a board member for the corporation along with other individuals. The BLS
states that most company executives have a bachelor or master's degree in business
administration or liberal arts subject. This job has a fantastic outlook and has many freedoms
that come with it. I feel that this is a match because I'm interested in controlling a company
and creating a plan to be successful in this job field. I feel as though you have many freedoms
and you're basically the boss and you don't have to listen to what anyone says. It's your
decisions and you rise or fall with your business as an entrepreneur.
Neurologists have to perform or interpret the outcomes of procedures or
diagnostic tests such as lumbar
punctures, electroencephalography, electromyography, and nerve conduction
velocity tests. They also must interview patients to obtain information such as
complaints, symptoms, medical histories, and family histories. Neurologists must
also examine patients to obtain information about functional status of areas such
as vision, physical strength, coordination, reflexes, sensations, mental
status, language skills, and cognitive abilities. To become a neurologist, you need
knowledge from biology, psychology, and medicine. The major in college that
should be taken is biology. Extensive skill, knowledge, and experience are needed
for these occupations. Many require more than five years of experience. After you
graduate college, you will need to go to medical school, and after you complete
that then you can become a neurologist. I’m interested because I like to help people
and I find the field extremely interesting.
Radiologists perform or interpret the outcomes of diagnostic
imaging procedures including magnetic resonance imaging
(MRI), computer tomography(CT), positron emission
tomography (PET), nuclear cardiology treadmill
studies, mammography, or ultrasound. They also obtain patients'
histories from electronic records, patient interviews, dictated
reports, or by communicating with referring clinicians. The
knowledge required to become a radiologist are
biology, medicine, and physics. In order to become a
radiologist, you must complete college and then graduate
medical school. In college, your major should be biology or pre-
med. I’m interested in this job because I’m highly interested in
science and I find this field interesting. The only flaws in this job is
that you are likely not going to work with people face to face. You
will likely be reading the MRI’s, CT’s, and PET’s. Thus, you won’t
really talk to patients. I’m still highly interested in this job.
My top six careers that I discovered in this class are
Neurologist, Radiologist, Lawyer, Entrepreneur, Surgeon, and
Psychiatrist. Out of all six of these careers, I would prefer to be a
neurologist. I think this career is right for me because I’m very
interested in the medical field. I also enjoy working with others
constantly. I’m also interested in finding out more on how nerves
work in the body and the interesting facts that revolve around
neurology. I also love to help people out because I feel it’s the right
thing to do, and I would love to do it as a job in my life.
