     explore where enhancements might add value
    Incorporate industry “best practices” to enhance
     effectiveness, efficiency & organizational acceptance
    Leverage workshops with thought leaders to
        Better understand current strengths & weaknesses
        Identify a feasible series of “baby step” enhancement releases
    Exploit prototyping to validate benefits with the participation
     of thought leaders and key stakeholders
    Prove value through an expanding series of limited
     deployments to demonstrate effectiveness & gain support

    Must accommodate differences in how individual business
     units operate in response to their challenges & opportunities
    Challenge business as usual assumptions that may be
     unnecessarily impeding improvements
    Identify where industry best practices & supporting tools
     can be introduced to improve effectiveness & efficiency
    Incorporate advanced Portfolio Management
     “Optimization” techniques to improve overall organizational
     operating opportunities and outcomes
    Collaborate with other management initiatives to ensure
     local “optimizations” do not impact global performance

    Failure to win acceptance & allegiance will doom the effort
    Must demonstrate value to each individual stakeholder and
     participant
      “If you don’t, they won’t” comply, adopt or benefit
    Formal Change Management techniques
        Should be leveraged to ensure the value message is crafted &
         delivered in a way that achieves acceptance & allegiance
        Should be evaluated based on their demonstrated ability to
         achieve acceptance
    Extensive communications “tuned” to the perspectives,
     needs & opportunities of each individual are continuously
     necessary to succeed!
