Assessing the Current Export Trade Finance System of Mongolia.
Paper commissioned by the World Bank as part of developing Mongolia’s non-mining
export sector.
This research provides an inside look into Mongolia’s current trade finance facility for non-mining
exporters. The country has seen a tremendous growth in mining export activity especially since the
commodity price boom that started in 2005, but as a result, the non-mining sector may have been neglected
as the country’s economy becomes too dependent on mining exports.
This research based on a country visit, offers insights into what currently exists for non-mining exporters.
Their options seem limited as they individually struggle to maintain their status without much public
support, while competing for funding sources that are directed at other sectors of the economy.

ADB's social sector loan for Mongolia.
