3. INTRODUCTION:
Now we are going to see about the importance of biodiversity and
the crucial role it plays in our life.
Biodiversity refers to the variety of life forms found on Earth
including plants,animals,fungi and microorganisms.
Our existance and well-being are closely linked to the health and
preservation of biodiversity.

5. Biodiversity loss:
Habitat loss:
Human activities such as deforestation, urbanization, and
industrialization lead to the destruction of natural habitat.
The loss of habitat threatens species and affect
ecosystems.
Climate change:
Rising global temperatues ,caused primarily by human
beings have severe impacts for biodiversity.

6. Actions for conservation:
Protected Areas:
Establishing and effectively managing protected areas helps
preserve critical habitats and safeguard vulnerable species.
These areas serve as sanctuaries and promote research and
education.
Sustainable Practices:
Adopting sustainable practices in agriculture,fishing,forestry,and
other industries reduces the negative impact on biodiversity.

7. Biodiversity threats among nations:
Between 2001 and 2021 the World lost 437 million hectares of tree
cover-16% of which was primary forest and it had a severe impact on
biodiversity.
The Natural History Museum in London says the UK is one of the most
nature depleted countries in Europe.
According to the WWF, recent biodiversity loss have been highest
in Latin America and the Caribbean.

8. What have countries agreed to do to tackle the issue?
At the UN's COP15 summit on biodiversity in December 2022,countries
reached an "Historic" agreement to protect 30% of Earth's land and seas
by 2030.
It has four main goals:
Increased conservation of ecosystems and species.
Resources used as sustainably as possible.
More equal sharing of natural resources.
Increased financial support for biodiversity
protection.

9. conclusion:
Biodiversity is not an abstract concept;it is a fundamental part of
our existence.
We must recognize our interconnectedness with nature and take
collective action to conserve and restore biodiversity.
By valuing and protectiong biodiversity,we can secure a
sustainable future for ourselves and future generations.
