1. Malkiel does an amazing job detailing the ties between
market fluctuations and everything from rational
decision-making to emotional investments. Through his
book, I better understood how my career in finance
would incorporate a variety of factors including company
news, world events, and natural disasters because all of
these can impact investor decisions.

2. For someone new to investing and analyzing businesses,
Kelly’s book offered an easy-to-understand perspective on
how typical investors might start researching a company.
Because it details investment methods by a various
investors, such as Warren Buffet and Peter Lynch, I got to
see how different strategies can still result in the same
success story.

3. While the environment depicted in Liar’s
Poker is nothing like what it is today in
sales and trading, it’s still an amazing way
to see how drastically Wall Street’s culture
and use of technology has changed in the
last 30 years.

4. Capote’s story telling swallows you so well into the
narrative that you forget you’re reading about a story
based on real-life events in the 50s. The sudden shift in
the book’s ambiance from peaceful Holcomb, Kansas to
crime-scene Holcomb, Kansas can be disturbing and
dizzying. Nevertheless, as my introduction to the true-
crime genre, In Cold Blood has been a compelling read. As
someone who thinks critically about my surroundings, I
enjoyed how the book deconstructed the character
mentalities from multiple perspectives.

5. This is another classic that not only
teaches readers about standard
investment terminology but also
addresses the history of Wall Street and
its culture. Many of my fundamental
decision making methods as an investor
have been inspired by the contents of
this book.

6. The WSJ is my go-to read
every breakfast. Being able
to spend some time every
morning perusing the site
gives me the chance to
catch up on business-
relevant topics and events.

7. I tune in to Planet Money to
understand how traditional finance
and economics have amalgamated
with the modern world. One of my
favorite episodes has been a study of
the impact of President Trump’s
tweets on the stock market and how
one could build an AI bot to invest
based on the content of his tweets.

8. Morning Brew’s Business Casual provides me
weekly breakdowns of new economic
developments and why they matter.
Listening to interviews each week with
economists, CEOs, and professors has
provided me with insightful takeaways on
relevant topics, such as the trade war with
China and the collapse of WeWork’s IPO.
