Mott MacDonald inspection were appointed by the Highways Agency to update the
standard structural and foundation drawings and specifications for the MS3 Gantries
which improve upon the MS2 types and their design is a development of the
successful MDIS project types pioneered by Mott MacDonald from 1995.
Balfour Beatty Rail Maintenance (BBRML)and Mott MacDonald are developing for
approval the design, specifications and safety case of a modern modular aluminium
space-truss gantry for rapid erection and use in emergency situations.
At the Channel Tunnel Terminal and new Medway Crossing hollow steel section
gantries for directional and variable message signing were designed using a semi
automatic computerised design method for structures and foundations.
