A New York City financial professional, Janina Casey has more than 15 years of experience in equity research and sales. Before working in the financial sector, Janina Casey worked as a child actor and was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for her performance in The Electric Company. An educational variety show that ran from 1971 to 1977, The Electric Company utilized live-action sketches, songs, and cartoons to teach basic phonetic and grammar concepts. The program was created by the Children's Television Workshop, which also produced Sesame Street but was aiming for a slightly older audience. Specifically, the show wanted to reach elementary students aged 7 to 10 who still needed help learning to read. The Electric Company’s cast included Rita Moreno and Morgan Freeman, with guest stars such as Joan Rivers, Gene Wilder, and Mel Brooks. Reading experts and academic advisors, along with writers and producers, conducted months of research to inform each episode, striving to create engaging content that would boost academic performance. Over the course of its six seasons, the program aired on more than 250 public television stations and won two Emmys.
