Respect Definition
 A feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities,
qualities, or achievements.
 Admire (someone or something) deeply, as a result of their abilities, qualities, or
achievements.
 Showing high regard for self, others, and property
The 3 R’s of Respect
 Respecting Yourself before you can respect others, you must first respect yourself.
 Show respect to yourself by accepting and honoring you own:
 Emotions, skills, beliefs, abilities, challenges, and body
Respecting Yourself looks like…....
 Taking care of yourself
 Dressing nice and not sloppy
 Making sure your hair looks nice and etc.
 Brushing your teeth
 Saying no to peer pressure
 Standing up for what you believe in.
Respecting Others look like….......
 Helping and caring for others
 Being kind
 Embracing and Celebrating Differences
 Treat others the way you would want to be treated.
 Show respect by asking permission before using
someone else’s things.
 Show respect for others even when they are
different from you.
Respecting Others sound like…...
 Kind and Considerate Communication
 Being kind of others by not teasing, taunting,
making fun of, threatening or gossiping.
 Listening when someone else is talking and
not interrupting.
 Using good manners polite language
 Such as Yes please and No thank you
 Showing respectful behavior is a way of
saying, “I care for you”.
