As if and as though are conjunctions,they
are used to say what a situation seem like.
They can refer to something that we think
may be true.

1. She’s behaving as if she were the Queen of England!
(She is not the Queen of England, but she is acting as if she is
very important)
2. They stared at me as if I were crazy.
(I’m not crazy, but people looked at me like I was crazy.)
3. His older brother always treats him as if he were a child.
(He is not a child, but his brother often talks to him like a child.)
4. He boarded the airplane as if he were a seasoned traveller.
5. She walks as if she were a supermodel.
6. She sings as if she were a pop star.
Note: If you want to emphasize that something is not
true, it’s possible to use were instead of was. In
American English it’s common to use were

Like is followed by a noun object
• It looks like it is going to rain (informal)
• It felt like it could snow at any minute.(informal)
• That house look like it´s going to fall down.
• It look like they aren´t coming.
• She ran like she was running a marathon.
