Many students can admit that they have fallen asleep at least once during a class. It is not the student's fault as to why they fall asleep in class, it is the
early school start times that causes students to fall asleep on their desks during class. Recent studies have shown that more than half of students get less
than eight hours of sleep which is the recommended amount of sleep. School start times contribute to sleep deprivation, car crashes, and lower test
results and overall grades.
Studies have shown that many students blame their sleep deprivation on the early school start times, they are not wrong. Students are supposed to
receive at least 8 hours of sleep each night; however, most teens only average around seven or less hours of sleep as seen in the graph below from

As I tried to enter the school, I noticed the outside doors were locked; that was a change from when I attended the school. The principal saw me
struggling and opened the door for me. He informed me on the security system and told me how I could get in next time. All the outside doors are
locked except for one and there is a buzzer system outside of the primary office door where the office women can let people in.
After I was allowed in, I signed in to the computer system as a guest and headed to the classroom I would be observing in. On my way to the
classroom, I couldn't help but notice that not much about the building had changed. As I walked downstairs to Ms. Gerke's classroom, I even noticed
that my kindergarten teacher still worked there in the same exact classroom; I was overwhelmed with nostalgia. In the distance I could hear the chatter
of students in classrooms and piano music and singing in the music room.
When I arrived in Ms. Gerke's classroom, she was sitting on the floor in a circle with her first graders doing a group activity. As you walk into the
classroom, the teacher's desk is on the right. Behind her desk is a seating area with a rug in front of the smart board, along with a computer next to it.
Along the far–right side of her classroom is a line of cabinets with decorations, books, turn–in boxes and more on it. The classroom walls were full of
large letters, numbers, and inspirational quotes. The back of her classroom included a reading center and both a boy's and girl's restroom. There
weren't too many desks in her classroom, but the desks she had were long and could seat at least four students. Overall, I would describe Ms. Gerke's
classroom as bright and colorful.
After about an hour into my observation, it was time for Ms. Gerke's plan period. Ms. Gerke explained that she had

Education as we know it today is based off the belief that every child deserves the chance to better their future. In modern times, the United States has
nearly closed all gender gaps but in education you can see the differences students of both genders help create. Girls in high school tend to have an
advantage in getting higher class averages and final grades than most boys in the same class. This "design" isn't because of personal attributes though
but more of a evolutionary curve.
Girls comprehend the ability to sit and stay attentive earlier and longer than boys. For example, one school day is about six hours long and a large part

Public education means sitting still, following directions, being well–mannered, obeying directives, and not causing trouble. Unsurprisingly, most boys
find public school to be a complete bore. Boys tend to face more disciplinary battles than girls, and are more likely to be diagnosed with Attention
Deficit Disorders and prescribed medication to keep them relaxed and composed.
In this case, public school teachers are taught to regard girl's behavior as the standard way of acting in class. Boys will "instinctively" differ from this
feminized standard behavior, and so will often find themselves in trouble more than girls. Educational psychologists found that girls hold a greater need
in pleasing the teachers, and therefore aim to get high grades. Boys, on the other hand, will motivate themselves to study if the subject material triggers
an interest in them.
Traditionally, girls are seen as gentle or soft but on the contrary boys are supposed to be tough, loud, and rough. When labeling these characteristics
it is easier to see how girls would adjust to a classroom setting. Girls also represent a type of soft spoken and easygoing attitude. In conclusion, because
these views of girls and boys are so easy to spot it isn't hard to see that our public education system is veered toward the "female" style of
